"This was my favorite soul food restaurant for years, would order multiple times a month but then I moved and haven't had them in over 6 years until recently. We placed a relatively large order over the phone for carryout, the woman who took our order was very sweet. One of the issues is their menu online is out of date and hopefully it gets updated soon, some of the food they no longer serve and obviously there is a price increase. Upon arrival our food was ready, the staff was sweet and the new location looks great! The reason why my rating is low is due to the taste/quality of the food. Picture wise and smell wise the food is perfect but the only food that had good flavor were the smothered turkey chops. The mashed potatoes reminded me of bulk food service quality like old country buffet. The collard greens and green beans tasted canned. The macaroni lacked seasoning. I honestly would be willing to try again and maybe eat there to see if there is a difference vs carryout."

"The atmosphere, and the service is always excellent. The food was lacking salt ! Items like the chicken the fried okra and cabbage was lacking flavor. The food was cooked to perfection otherwise. Next another issue I’ve had ive been here on several different occasions the recipes keep changing on the macaroni and cheese & candy yams so soon as you have a favorite item the next time you come it’s a totally different recipe. I’ve had three different versions of the candy yams alone and I’ve only liked the first one. macaroni and cheese was extremely greasy or oily . this is not to deter anyone from this location. The food is definitely good. This is just to make awareness to management to try and be more consistent with the food & not different versions, and being uncertain of what to expect will make return customers less likely to come back."

"The restaurant has a lot of great Afro-American art. There's nice music playing, just loud enough to hear it. Several items that we requested were not available or seasonal. The waitress said that they have to update the menu. They don't substitute the types of food (like fried and marinated chicken, although you can get whatever sides you want). Most of the sides we tried tasted canned, but the Mac and cheese were excellent! The fried catfish and chicken were so seasoned, hot, and delicious (it's just what we were searching for). The meals are definitely a sharable size There is also a wide variety of desserts to choose from. The fried chicken is a great reason to check them out. NOT OPEN ON MONDAY."
