About the Business
Pumpernickels is a modern and upbeat restaurant and bar located in downtown Saugatuck, Michigan. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and craft cocktails, our menu features delicious cocktails made from the freshest ingredients, including our popular SMOKED OLD FASHION. Owned by Carrie and Phil Caldwell since September 2018, Pumpernickels underwent renovations to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. If you have dietary concerns or questions about an upcoming event, feel free to reach out to us. Please note that during the summer months, we may close between 3-5pm to allow our staff a break and prepare for dinner service. "Pretentious comes to mind. We stopped in for a quick cocktail and while we stood at the hostess stand, the host cleaned and reset a table without acknowledging us. Once the table was reset he finally strolled over and asked if he could help. We asked for a table for 4 for cocktails and you would have thought we were crazy. He looked around and said he didn’t have anything. It’s completely fine to be busy, but it’s not fine to be rude and dismissive. Our stop at Pumpernickels left a negative impression on an otherwise perfect day."
"First and foremost, Lucy was the sweetest pupper! Friendly/relaxing atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Side note: their bottomless mimosas...you certainly get what you pay for! Would visit again."
"Great beach town cafe. Wonderful watermelon gazpacho. We stopped for a late lunch after a morning at the beach and it was perfect. You can stop down the block if there is a wait and the host will call you when your table is ready. We will definitely be back."
