"I did not write a review about this company until I received a flyer posted on my front door advertising for new pool sales by Nick the Pool Guy. The experience I had with Nick the Pool Guy was the WORST. I filed claims with the BBB and the Ohio Attorney General’s office in order to get a refund. Dave Yost’s office (Attorney General) was able to obtain a refund for me. The problems started when the company opened my pool. They broke a pipe to my pool pump. They told me that the pipe broke but tried to blame me for the break with various excuses. They said I needed new plumbing after ignoring my calls for several days. I paid to get the plumbing fixed. Not even a day after the new plumbing was done, the sand filter started shooting water into the sky. The company refused to take my calls. I contacted the BBB. At first, the company told the BBB that my pool was fixed. When the BBB reached out to me to verify their claim, I told them that the pool equipment was still busted. The company then ignored the BBB. The BBB closed the case after being ignored and told me to file a complaint against Nick the Pool Guy with the Attorney General’s office. I did just that. I paid to have a new company fix Nick the Pool Guy’s errors. It cost $1200 to fix everything that Nick the Pool Guy busted. I even learned that the new plumbing Nick the Guy did was WRONG. I had to have the plumbing redone. It took over 2.5 months to get the issue fixed from the day the pool was opened in April. The pool was as green as a pond. I spent close to $1000 in chemicals to clean it up. My complaints are public record. I provided ample detail to the BBB and to the Attorney General. Feel free to read them on their websites. The pool company that I hired to fix Nick the Pool Guy’s errors said I was one of MANY who have hired them to fix pool issues left by Nick the Pool Guy. When I was buying pool chemicals from a local dealer, the worker at the store said I again was one of MANY people who had issues with Nick the Pool Guy. I was told that several of these people filed small claims cases in court. I didn’t follow up on that to know how many. I also was told that Nick the Pool Guy has people write positive reviews on Google to make up for the negative reviews they receive. I did not follow up on that comment but the company does tend to receive several positive reviews after a negative comment is posted. Do your homework before deciding to use this company! There is a reason they don’t have a long waiting list to do work like other pool companies do. Believe what you read!"

"Do not hire this guy to do any work on your pool! We hired him to fix a leak in our in-ground pool, and repaint our Jacuzzi - he required $7500 up front which we paid. Sent workers who dug a hole in November, left the hold over the winter , sent someone to close the pool, and said they would be back first thing in the spring to finish. Spring came - we found 3 broken pipes because the pool was not properly closed. We called, they said they would send someone - no one showed up. This scenario was repeated several times. We finally painted the Jacuzzi ourselves. Someone finally came to fix the broken pipes, but not the leak. We continued to call, but no one came. In July we hired a local plumbing company who came and fixed the leak within a few hours. We contacted Nick to request a refund - he said he did not owe us anything, but would reimburse use the money we paid the plumbing company that fixed the leak if I sent a copy of the bill. Copy of the bill was sent along with a letter from our attorney. No response from Nick. This has been one of the worst experiences we have had with any type of repair issue. My advice is DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY. I only gave 1 start because there were no negative stars to pick."

"Had a good experience with this company. We just recently bought the home in the summer and had no idea how to close the pool for the season. I had originally called them to inquire about pool covers and they reached out towards the end of the season to see if I wanted to get on their schedule for closing. Came at a great time because I was not hearing back from the company that had closed it for the previous owners. The two guys that came had it done in less than an hour and were kind and courteous. I’ll definitely be using them in the future! Thank you!"

"We informed them that we were not knowledgeable with our above ground pool that came with our newly purchased house, we accepted an extra charge for "pool school" and they walked us through a few steps. They did get our pump attached to the filter and the pool with a new hose, but no issues were mentioned to us besides a leaky exit valve. Next morning(saturday) we have a pool pump fountain in our backyard as the hose they had attached shot off in the night. Emptying half the pool into the yard. My husband spent 8 hours educating himself on pool pumps etc, figured out the parts we needed to replace to fix it and what was wrong with the setup etc. Many preexisting parts were not correct(which is what we expected, and why we kept asking what was needed). After a whole day husband was able to fix it himself. We offered to pay for the tubing and clamps they had brought themselves to connect to the pump, but we wanted a refund for services due to having to reattach and install that correctly ourselves- and redo the whole system ourselves because we didn't know the parts being used before we bought the house were not correct. We did call them on saturday morning they said they would get back to us but never did. On monday when discussing why we wanted a refund they simply told us they don't do refunds, offered to come out but everything had already been fixed by my husband so there was no need. Definitely do not recommend them for above ground pools. If you cannot do a pool or assist or are unsure just tell the homeowner honestly..."
