Super 8 by Wyndham Portsmouth

"On my week-long stay at the Super 8 Motel, I found the rooms and service to be mediocre at best. They had a washer and dryer on the 3rd floor, not sure about the others, and it cost $1.50-$2 per wash load and $1.50 per drying cycle. The free breakfast is the same every day- biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee, and pour-your-own pancakes for the hot choices. Dry cereal, bread, bagels, juice, and milk are offered for the cold choices. It's served from 6-10a.m. daily. Housekeeping is pretty good about returning towels, but the room didn't appear to be thoroughly cleaned. There was dust on the headboard and lights, and the toilet was dirty. The microwave in my room did not work longer than 30 seconds before kicking the surge protector and shutting down the TV with it. The king bed is nice and comfortable! No bugs or pests that I saw. The indoor pool area isn't overly occupied, and the front desk employees were kind and considerate. At around $67 per night, the rate was the cheapest in Portsmouth at the time."

"I stayed here last weekend and it was rocky in the beginning, I think a room just got missed by maintenance because the 1st room assigned wasn't the best. I called bc no heat and the desk guy Rick came and fixed it. I ended up having to switch bc there was something wrong with the water pressure. He conveniently moved me a few rms dwn and I slept great before working my first 12hr shift I came to work. In the morning, Rebecca was hanging out in the breakfast area being her outgoing self and tending to guests every needs. She is wonderful at what she does. Both her and Rick are very pleasant to be around. The other guests seemed nice as well, I didn't mingle much just worked and slept. But the place was quiet, clean and sufficient for my needs."

"Staff are awesome. Loved them all. The hotel isn't the most outstanding and has its flaws like all do, but they have all you need. Help whenever you need it, hot breakfast, smiles when you walk in the door, pool, hot tub, snacks. A couple hot water issues and the washer being broke but that's minimal Hassle to me. I'll be back for sure."

"When we checked in, the lady was very friendly. The pool floor was slippery, and my daughter fell just walking to get in. The room was kinda small. Had a towel that looked dirty. I put a pic of it up. The lights kept flicking even when we were on the elevator. We also had to keep going down to get the key activated, which was so annoying. I would not recommend this place and will not be coming back to it."

"I want to start off this review by saying it is Thanksgiving, my husband and I stay at this location multiple times throughout the year especially closer to the holidays. We even pay an extra fee so we can check in early, last night I was attacked by bed bugs when I went to the front desk at 3:00 a.m. hyperventilating from being bit by bed bugs I was reassured that the situation would be taken care of in the morning and the gentleman even took pictures of my belly where I was covered in bites. Well here it is morning and it comes time to check out I was told they couldn't do anything because a manager wasn't there when I asked for them to write my name down one of the housekeepers runs into my room isn't there for 30 seconds comes running "oh they smoked weed in here!" And that was absolutely not the case all that boiled down to, they knew they were in the wrong and didn't want to make things right after night shift front desk had promised and even taken pictures of me. I'm sure it is on camera of all the times I walked outside to smoke a cigarette wouldn't it make more sense if I was going to partake in something like that to just walk outside ? Will definitely contact the health department and the better bureau association."
