"I moved to Central Florida from the Pacific Northwest a few months ago. I was really afraid I wouldn't be able to find anywhere that could replace the great hardwood suppliers I had to choose from there. I was so happy when I walked into Craftsmen today to find a friendly guy working the desk and a nice selection of not just rough cut lumber, but plenty of ply, s4s and all sorts of odds and ends. Something that really appealed to me, and I think a lot of other less experienced woodworkers, is the selection of boards of every species that they sell in small quantities and priced individually (like the 'hobby boards' they sell at the big box stores, except they aren't all red oak or poplar and they're priced fairly). We don't all have the ability to joint, plane and resaw our stock, so it's nice to be able to get a little of this and a little of that without paying an arm and a leg. For new woodworkers, it can be really intimidating walking into a hardwood dealer for the first time, so it's really nice to have friendly staff that doesn't make you feel stupid when you walk through the door. Can't wait to get my shop set up so I can come back."
