"I am not from Pahokee! I moved when me and my kids suffered a great lost and they have helped us out a lot and steered us in the right directions to achieve the some stability. The staff there at the housing authority is of great service to us. In fact, I have recommended a lot of people I know to go there to get services. Thanks PHA!!"

"Like living in quicksand.. The more you try and get back on your feet to get back to proper independence the more they seem to trip you down.. Anybody from anywhere can call anonymously and make complaints against you and cause you all kinds of undue hardship without one question to the validity of their complaint.. Even courts say you are innocent until proven guilty. Not here. You are guilty til you prove otherwise. You feel very unwanted here and like help is the very last thing you are given. Don't know what to say.. Other than it needs to be dismantled. Put ppl on section 8 in a house and when they are gainfully employed allow them to rent to own.. But projects are government experiments on the rigors of induced poverty and job security for the elite not an assistance programs. They Didn't even want to assist me in the beginning. Said I had suffered to many evictions previously. I told them it was why I came because I see I need some help and can't manage it myself for the time being.. Still had to call hud crying before my own city's housing authority would assist me and they Really didn't want to help me. And I have worked and paid taxes since age 12 in my community. And even now. Its like they make every effort to put me out for any and everything because they didn't want to help me from the start. I cannot wait til I can turn their unit back over to them. I am now a strong advocate against housing and welfare reform. It needs to be done away immediately. Its a setup for perpetual failure and nothing more.."
