Fernwood Grove Apartments

"UPDATE: Recently I sent an email requesting maintenance to Nataly, the property manager. I also asked in writing for maintenance not to let themsevels in as my roommate would be home. She DID NOT REPLY. Later that day the maintenance staff LET THEMSELVES IN, DID NOT announce themselves, and left LEAVING MY DOOR UNLOCKED. They did fix the problem so I guess there's that. I have a camera set up inside the house facing the front door, so I was notified when they came in and watched live. (I literally had an issue last year with someone trying to break into my apt. I called the police for that one.) When I called to place a complaint about maintenance because they spooked my roommate with Nataly she said VERBATIM "It was my fault for not using the portal." and she said "I don't have time to answer every email I get." Because she didn't want to admit she messed up. She made NO attempt to ensure the appropriate steps could be taken. She could have emailed that a reply, called, or forwarded the email to the appropriate person who could have helped. She could have even waited to address the email altogether until she was on-site to deal with it. ALL options would have been better than compromising the safety of the roommate who was home and DID NOT know who these strange men were or why they were in OUR HOME. Not to mention the safety of your staff! The staff does not wear identifiable clothing. They walk around in plain t-shirts and shorts. Saying the portal is an "OPTION" and would be easier DOES NOT equate to my "request to not let people walk into my home is going to be ignored." I reached out to the regional manager, and I asked to be contacted via phone call so we could find a resolution. The regional manager informed me that it was a human error and she was sorry that the “box to prohibit them from entering was not clicked.” She then suggested I use the portal as well. She made ZERO attempts to apologize for the actions and words of her employee. She also refused to acknowledge my request for maintenance staff to be dressed in an identifiable way. She said, “your roommate was never in real danger.” In addition to these problems here is an update on the pricing incase you're still considering it here: The rent DOES NOT include the roughly $150 to $200 a month in additional fees that you cannot opt out of. (and no it does not included electric. That is a separate problem with TECO.) By the way, there are only 3 ways to rent. One is to pay with the online portal which costs AN ADDITIONAL $65 a month to use a DEBIT CARD, Pay with an ACH debit meaning it needs to be paid before the first of the month, and IN CASH AT A 711 OR CVS. The last two still have a $5 fee. ALL THE WHILE THERE ARE ACUTAL BULLET HOLES IN THE BUILDING. They will not take money orders or cashiers checks. The bottom part is all still true minus the gate which has been functional for exactly 2 weeks. The original post: Has decided to raise our rent 67.85%. There are exposed wires all over the complex. There are several cracks in ceilings and foundations of the second floor, constant flooding, pest issues. The gates have not worked since July. The security cameras have not been working either my neighbors have had issues with people breaking in to cars and the cameras do not work to help. There was an incident with someone committing suicide in the middle of the complex not but 6 months ago. The neighboring complex’s are several hundred dollars cheaper. There is no playground or club house as listed on the website. When a few of the tenants and I went to speak with the manager she was rude. Didn’t even pause or mute whatever she was watching to speak to us. Cut us off to tell us it was cooperates problem which we knew but when asked for a number to speak with them she would not provide it even though after some light searching it was found fairly easily. I get that this must be a frustrating time for her but as the face of the property there is no reason to have been the way she was."

"Bad management and Races... I went to get help for my rent, The manager refused to sign the paper to get help. Then she wouldn't provide me a letter stating the reason why she didn't accept it so I will be able to take it to the court."

"I've only been here a month soo it's really hard to give a great review, but I'll sat so far that the people in the office are really nice and helpful, the complex is full of culture which I love, pet friendly. Soo far the place is great."

Pedro the maintenance guy who has been here for some time is just the best guy around. Beautiful place to come home to, the grounds are well kept and the pool is always clean and available for a swim. Fernwood Grove has a wonderful community here with families and working singles all here keeping quiet at night and throughout the day. Everyone is very respectful from the staff to the tenants.
