Whitehall Garden Apartments (WHG)

"It’s a long read but please read if ur considering moving here. I wish I could be writing a better review for this place as I believed Ronnie when he said he'd come through for me but was let down in more ways than one. I moved from AZ to FL in May 2023 and lived at Whitehall Gardens until Nov 2023. The 1st red flag was when my move in date got delayed a week and I had to stay with my mom with all of my stuff in AZ waiting. The day before I left for a 5 day drive, I got told the move in date was getting pushed again; this time for 2 weeks. Thankfully my dad is in Ft Myers so I stayed with him upon my arrival. I was desperate for an inexpensive place so I listened to their justification that they wanted to make the unit as nice as possible. However, when I moved in, it was from it. There were no cabinet doors on any cabinet in my kitchen, I didn't even have drawers in the kitchen or in my fridge, there were dead roaches in the sink and the HVAC system was spewing out a white powder when turned on that made me sick for a week. The place was filthy and I mean FILTHY. The floor was sticky from being poorly cleaned and it immediately turned my socks black. The bathroom....well let's just say I had to buy another toilet because of how disgusting the one they left me with was. The toilet seat was barely attached and they made no effort to clean it. I had to scrub fecal matter off of the seat and clean the inside which had a black ring of sh!t around it. The shower was also not cleaned and smelled of cigarettes. Once I cleaned it, it changed from yellow to white. The floor of the shower was also very cracked and had to be replaced while I was living there. The kicker for me was that the entire time I was there, I did not have a working sink in my bathroom. My vanity was supposed to be replaced and a new sink was supposed to be installed. Apparently there was a clog they had trouble getting out and decided they would let me move in there anyways. Despite frequently asking for 7 months to have these changed made or at the very least a sink installed, they did nothing. I moved out and broke my lease because I couldn't take all that and the roach infestation anymore. The only thing in that time they did do was replace the HVAC and bomb the apartment to get rid off the roaches; which never helped. Ronnie claims he "did his best" to help me but I'll let you all be the judge of that. I was patient, polite and understanding of the other repairs that he had to do and just ended up getting taken advantage of by him because of it. In my opinion, he should not be in charge of this complex given he can not keep up with the workload. I do see the good he does do for the complex but my experience was unacceptable. Also, the clog in my sink caused a black liquid that smelled like sewage to overflow into my vanity one time so I asked my neighbor below me if they were having problems with a leak. To my surprise he told me there has been a leak in his bathroom for over a year they never fixed. His HVAC is also rusted and there's gaps between the HVAC and the wall that roaches and other bugs frequently come through. Ronnie Hall and Donald Jacobsen have been made aware of these issues and choose to take their time solving them.Ronnie explained that they want to keep rent low so that's why they are slow to make changes. Which they should have an easier time doing now since they have decided to punish me for leaving this, what I can only describe as a crap-hole (literally), by keeping my $900 security deposit. This deserves a separate section. If you're a POC, I suggest you stay away from this place. Ronnie has made several comments to me throughout my time there that I guess he felt comfortable saying to me because I'm white. He said that he's trying to get more white people at the complex because "the black people bring in drugs and crime". He sighted his past as a PI to justify his prejudice. When I left, he told me 2 other people accused him of being racist for similar reasons. Donald apparently approves of this behavior since he is still there"

"i’ve been living here for about a year now and it has been great! The manager is very cooperative and helpful. I never have issues either thanks to the maintenance man. the other tenants never cause any problems or issues, its also very close to shopping centers and great fishing spots and trails that you can walk. This is a overall great place to settle!"

"Maintenance is on point everyone here is chill it’s a open community Ron is cool manager he’s very understanding and he works with you if there’s a issue. theres a nice Pinellas trail 2 minutes away and it’s a good view of water or biking trail. you can fish down the road. I’d say it’s a great place overall."

"Whitehall Gardens is a great place. I’ve been here for about 8 months and have had zero issues. The apartment manager, as well as the maintenance team, are quick to get things fixed and keep the property in pristine condition. The rent is undoubtedly more affordable than other places, so you can have a quiet, pleasant, and cozy apartment without breaking the bank."

"Hello I'm Okeal and I have lived at Whitehall Gardens for a little while. I love it here it's really quiet and safe and most of the neighbors are very nice and easy going. They keep it clean and neat with a pool area to match. The property manager Ronnie has turned this place around he is very easy to talk to and make sure to take care of any maintenance issues that may arrive. I would give this place 10 stars if I could."
