"My review is going to be biased because I remember a time when this was the place to go for Fabric & so many wonderful things for crafts. I remember coming here as a kid, and as soon as you entered the door, the place lit up with seasonal decorations, smells of all kind, and a bevy of activity. Loads of customers searching the racks for just the right fabric, checking out the arts & craft items on display, and best of all, there were customer service associates all over the place, ready to help and make suggestions at a moment's hesitation. When I visited today, the store seemed to be dead almost. There were still racks and racks of material on display, but I got the feeling I get when visiting a second-hand thrift store, an empty feeling. No arts & crafts on display, no seasonal smells, no background music, and only 3 customer service associates on the sales floor. Now, I have patronized Joann's many times over the past 40 to 50 years at more than one of the chains' locations but today's visit was a very sad visit as I could see what the pandemic has done, what on-line shopping has done and how arts & crafts skills of customers have diminished over the years. I could see how great customer service as the norm has changed to minimal customer service interaction has become the norm. When I finally got help from one of the customer service associates, they did not have the sewing machine parts I was looking for, and I was advised to check online. There was no offer to order the parts, no offer to check other stores, just directed me out of the brick & mortar store and right to a web site. So, if you are looking for material, buttons, and sewing thread, you should be able to find something. Just don't expect much assistance or questions answered by a professional who knows the crafts. You're mostly on your own, self-service at its best."
