Family Dollar

"I was the only customer in the store at Ariana street in Lakeland Florida at approximately 8:25 am on Monday November 27th 2023. I went to the ATM and it was out of order with an error code. I went to the cashier, (she was behind the counter the entire time I was in there), with a bag of cookies to buy so that I could have $10 back. I pressed the button agreeing to cash back, and I bypassed my PIN# like I always do in all convenience stores, and because the purchase went through as a credit, I couldn’t get any cash back. I then POLITELY asked if I could return it and repurchase the cookies because I needed to have cash back and the ATM was out of order. She told me in an unfriendly tone, “That’s a lot of unwanted work” and slowly proceeded to lean on the counter while slowly typing in numbers on the register. I have worked in retail for 25 years and I know that even when a customer asks for something out of the ordinary, I would help them with a smile. Like I said, I was the ONLY person in the store, and I know that returning a small item is no big deal. This isn’t the first time I had to deal with someone with a bad attitude at this Family Dollar."

"Well last time I was there the cashier was very helpful. I hate when I go to a store and a cashier is working like they would rather be anywhere else. It's not like you have to whistle while you work but come on now, smile at least"

"I went to the family dollar, and it was really disappointing, I wanted to buy two plastic boxes and they didn't have the price and they told me they couldn't sell it because it didn't have a price?????. And the employees are very unwilling to serve the public, and in front of us something similar happened. They are going to have to see what they do with those employees"

"Was trying to buy an item and it wouldn’t scan. The cashier called the manager and their response was “we can’t sell this item” no reason as to why.. but not sure why it’s on the shelf if it can’t be sold. Zero effort to try and remedy the situation. The person before me in line asked for a price and the cashier said “I can’t tell you the price”… zero attempt at trying to find a similar item to sell it. Lost two sales for lack of care from the staff."

"This store is not clean, never organized, no carts. They say no carts because people steal them. Maybe they steal them because no one from the store bothers to go check the lot and bring them in. We seem to be on our cellphone s instead. Most merchandise is un priced. Staff is friendly. As a senior I cannot buy a lot because of no carts. They have probably 2 available. I only go there if I'm absolutely desperate. I shop at Dollar General down the street even though it's a little further. I also recommend them to people instead of Family Dollar. Maybe Corporate needs to make a surprise visit to the store."
