"If I could give 0 stars, I would. First of all, the nurses in the ER are amazing. They do their absolute best considering the poor leadership they are provided. Had an awful experience with Dr. Katherine Wietecha and Kailin Clanton. Every time they left a patient, I noticed they rolled their eyes with any questions a patient asked. I waited 7 hours at the ER just for Dr. Wietecha to only talk to me for 3 minutes to let me know that something in my intestine looked "weird" - no further information, but that I'll be admitted. Kailin then took over and completely talked down to me and my family whenever we had questions. I don't know how you can become a doctor or a PA with so little people skills. These are the type of people who choose their careers because they want to add prestige to their lives. These are the type of people who sways people away from visiting hospitals, creating a more unhealthy ecosystem in SWFL. I hope their families never end up in hospitals because their karma is coming for them. At the end of the day, the diagnoses and treatment they provided me was inaccurate according to the surgeon. So, maybe they should get off their high horses because their snobbery cannot replace competence and kindness."

"My husband was taken to the Trauma ER at NCH North. The nurses and doctors could not have been more wonderful - professional - caring - knowledgable - kind - on top of everything! His tests and assessment were done quickly, and they sent him to Trauma ICU in Lee County. We have lived in Collier County since 1980 - and NCH has always been the best, and we so appreciate it!"

"Recently, I had major surgery at NCH. As stressful as surgery can be, I don’t think the whole process could’ve been better. I arrived very early in the morning and checked in. Check in was a breeze as all of the pre-op things were done the week prior. Once forms were signed, I walked down to the surgery waiting room and waited approximately 15 minutes before being called in. I was met by the super friendly nursing staff and immediately went to a curtained area to be prepped. My initial “prepping” consisted of changing into a surgical gown (privately) and having two IV lines started. The whole time, my nurse talked with me and offered support, recognizing my nervousness. Once the IV lines were in, various people came in , introduced themselves and explained their individual role in my care. Every person had me verbally verify my name, DOB and what procedure I was having that day. Numerous people checked and double checked if I had allergies and my past history with any prior surgeries I may have had. (like previous drug reactions) My anesthesiologist introduced himself and explained what would happen but assured me I would already be “loopy”and likely would not remember. (Truth…I don’t remember) My surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Heitmann (I can’t say enough wonderful things about him) came in to see me before the procedure, offering his support as well, along with asking if I had any last minute questions. I then waited another few minutes, but in the meantime, my nurse had gone out to the family waiting area to bring my husband back to stay with me until it was time to go to the surgical room. Another few minutes went by and it was time to go to the OR. More people came in to “get” me and each one introduced themselves and what their role was within my care team. I knew that all of the medical “prep” for the actual procedure would still have to be done and was nervous that all of these people would be in the room while that was happening. I knew the area of my body that would need to be prepped, and was quietly dreading getting that feeling of vulnerability…and feeling undignified. But, that never happened! I was given medicine to relax me and all of my stress about feeling undignified was completely unfounded. I immediately went to sleep and woke up in recovery….with a lot of people checking on me and talking to me. 5 days post op, I received a call from one of the surgical nurses to check on me at home. I told her that I had been so nervous about feeling vulnerable and undignified and was so happy that never happened. She explained to me that even though a patient is asleep, when it came time to do the prep, no one is in the room who didn’t absolutely have to be there. She further explained that they take very seriously, consideration of the patient, whether the patient is asleep or not. She stayed on the phone with me for about 1/2 an hour and answered all of my questions….especially about the procedure itself. Bottom line, from check in to check out the next day, the care I received was second to none. I felt valued and afforded as much privacy and dignity as possible. The nursing and tech staff on both the surgical floor and the general surgery floor made me feel comfortable. My nurses on the general floor checked on me continuously…explaining everything they were doing, why they were doing it and ensuring they would keep me ahead of the pain. I cannot think of a better place to go. No procedure is fun, but if you want to feel valued and dignified as a human before, during and after your procedure, know the staff have your back! Kudos to the caring and professional surgical and floor staff at NCH!"

"This facility is EXTREMELY understaffed, especially the number of techs. There was 1 tech for 17 patients!!!. My 90 year old father was not allowed to get out of the bed because he was a fall risk. He had to call for a nurse every time he needed to use the bathroom which was quite frequently. The techs were kind and compassionate and tried their very best but often my father had to sit in a dirty diaper for an hour waiting for someone to come. Techs have a tough job, don’t get paid nearly enough and can’t be in all places at the same time. They suffer and so do their patients. Maybe corporate could divert some of their bonuses and hire additional nurses and techs and put the patients first."

"Absolutely horrible experience. Not feeling well myself also needed a wheelchair but able to walk slowly. I approached the information desk with a kind smile Maddie and very helpful. She ask me to sit on a bench across from admitting to wait for my husband that had been hospitalized for the last 5 days. There absolutely no one around me and minding my own personally space with the curiosity wearing a mask. A volunteer, an old lady, Audrey has ask me to move 3 times now. I even said if you want me to move get me a wheelchair. I have never seen anyone so rude that actually telling others she’s refusing to move. I don’t understand there was not a single person around me, in front of me, beside me but she insisted for me to me. Why?? A power trip!! Maybe have someone that cares about people volunteering instead of bossing them around."
