About the Business

Satchel's Pizza

Satchel's Pizza, located at 1800 Northeast 23rd Avenue in Gainesville, Florida, is not your typical pizza joint. While their pizzas are delicious, it's their salads that have gained quite a reputation. The Satch Salad, made with a special dressing invented by the owner's wife, is a fan favorite.

The owner of Satchel's Pizza is not just a pizza enthusiast, but also a talented stained glass artist. What started as a hobby in a community ed class has now turned into a passion project, with beautiful stained glass windows adorning the restaurant.

Having grown up in Jacksonville, the owner eventually found his way back to Gainesville and decided to make it his home. His love for pizza and art led him to fulfill his life's ambition of owning a pizzeria while also pursuing his artistic endeavors.

At Satchel's Pizza, you can enjoy delicious pizzas, mouthwatering salads, and admire the owner's stunning stained glass creations. It's a unique and eclectic dining experience that you won't find anywhere else.

"Popular place. It has changed in a lot of ways. The food is good but not original Satchel's good. The salad was favorite before, not so much this time. It was still a good dinner but not sure if a second visit is warranted. Just because someone has making something for 20 years doesn't mean it hasn't changed. The food has definitely changed."

"Such a fun place! Where else can you order the best pizza you've ever tasted while sitting in a VW van, an airplane, or a greenhouse? Enjoy eclectic artwork while your kids play on a jungle gym or bang on a drum set made from pots and pans? Grab a draft beer from local breweries while listening to live music and perusing a gift shop with a little something for everyone? Whatever the wait time is, it doesn't matter: it's worth it."

"The pizza here is awesome, highly recommend! The hardest part is deciding what to put on it... The salad/ salad dressing are amazing as well (we got a to go bottle of the dressing)! The atmosphere is very cool; a variety of places to sit et eat! You will have to go to understand the experience... Especially the toy store..."

"Been here twice and it was about a 20 min wait each, but worth it. I looked around the gift shop while waiting; they have lots of cool and cute things. There was live music one of the times I went in the bar portion. The entire shop is decorated in eccentric things and is very fun themed to look at. The pizza tasted really good and came out pretty quick. The homemade sodas are really good too; my favorite was the root beer."

"Wonderful. The location: just so eclectic and fun. They used old iPhones as plaster decoration along some walls. Also some other hodgepodge walls of decoration. One wall inside was almost all stained glass, I imagine would be amazing in the daytime. The food: great food, pan pizza was huge and delicious, cooked to perfection. Cannoli were massive, crispy and had a great filling. Would recommend and revisit."
