The Top

"Not the same quality. Been going to The Top since they first opened and the business was so new, the receipts still said Footlights (former business in same space). My husband and I went on our first date here and used to love making new memories here. Last time I went with my mom for a special dinner the steak was really poor quality. Tough, chewy, and inedible. My mom is not one to complain, but we wanted the kitchen to know. The waiter just shrugged it off and didn’t even offer to remove it from the bill. Years ago, they had a filet option and I the meat was even organic / grass fed. Miss that menu!! Would rather pay that price for a smaller, high quality filet — versus a cheap sirloin. My mom went again with my sister and said the burger was also overly greasy and bad. Quality of food and service seems to have deteriorated. Will think twice before going back."

"One of the best local restaurants to try in Gainesville. Really loved their corn nuggets, kimchi cauliflower and spicy peanut dish. Has a really nice vibe to drink and chill. Can be a bit pricier but great to celebrate special moments."

"The top has pretty good food and the drinks are okay as well. I've had better drinks than the ones here. Food is probably better than drinks. The chicken tenders I had were so juicy inside and crispy on the outside. The bleu cheese sauce was great as well. Did not enjoy the Smokin Devil cocktail. It's too sour and too smoky. Not fun to drink. Negroni was decent though. The atmosphere is good, there's a restaurant-like area, there's a bar area and an outdoor seating area in the back. All these areas are separated so you can choose exactly the atmosphere you like."

"Went for dinner with a friend and have been here several times for either food or drinks. The food was great (cannot recommend the pesto gnocchi enough, pillowy clouds of pasta perfection!!). Really want to try the gnocchi carbonara at a future visit as well. The salad was nice and fresh. Cocktails are good but fairly standard overall. Service can be slower at times (especially during the weekend evening hours). Definitely will come back for the salad/gnocchi and will bring out of town friends/family here for the food and atmosphere."

"The Top is popular in Gainesville and I was excited to try it. I went here with my family when they visited in town on a Tuesday around 6:00. It was kind of busy but we only had to wait around 10 minutes. The vibes in there are really nice, it is clean, decorated nicely, and not too loud. Definitely really liked the atmosphere it gives off hipster vibes. They have a taco deal on Tuesday and their menu has a wide variety. We ordered the corn nuggets as an appetizer and they were good it came with a lot. I got the good morning burger which was good but honestly not as good as I expected and I thought it was not filling enough. I did really like the sweet potato fries though. My sister got the San Diego chicken which she enjoyed a lot. For desert we got the chocolate cake which was amazing it was very rich. Our waiter was very attentive. My only complaint besides what I mentioned about my burger is that our food took kind of long to come out. Also parking is kind of hard to find here"
