About the Business

Pebble Hill

Located at 101 South Debardeleben Street in Auburn, Alabama, Pebble Hill is a university that houses the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities. The historic Scott-Yarbrough House, built in 1847 in the Greek Revival style, serves as a reminder of the diverse and important lives that have shaped the town of Auburn, including Creek Indians, enslaved individuals, and the town's founders and builders.

At Pebble Hill, visitors can explore a wide range of opportunities offered by the Center, both on-campus and throughout the state. The facility is also available for rent for small events by individuals and organizations in the community.

Dr. Randall, a Muscogee (Creek) veteran, is part of the team at Pebble Hill, which recently expanded its artifacts collection to showcase the artistry and humanity of enslaved Alabamians. Researchers like Brucie Porter are working to shed light on the history of rural, low-income, and predominantly Black public schools, with the goal of sparking important conversations around school funding.

Visitors can also look forward to public talks and events at Pebble Hill, such as an upcoming talk on Muscogee history by John Beaver, a Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizen and cultural expert. Join us at Pebble Hill to learn, engage, and be inspired by the rich history and diverse stories that shape our community.

"A very pleasant glimpse into the past. This antique home was very clean and bright with well placed and informative displays. The proprietor was friendly and even let us move some of the plaques to get unobstructed photos of the antique furniture. Our favorite piece was the Steinway Square Grand Piano from the 1860's."
