Northside Hospital Duluth

"Broke my hip Friday and had emergency surgery there on Sunday. The ER staff (including the ER nurse, x-ray tech, and ER doctor) were all great; however, I was admitted to the hospital after the ER and that’s where it went south. The nurses were at times rude and didn’t seem to care. Got discharged on Sunday right around the time for a shift change. Left my gate belt (to help me up and downstairs) in the room and my husband realized it as he was pulling the car around to take me home. Nurse would not allow us to go back and get it. She told us we can “buy one at CVS” (which we tried and turns out you can’t). Prior to that, she also tried sending my rx for pain meds electronically to the pharmacy, but it was almost time for pharm to close so my husband left to go while she was “sending” the rx… turns out narcotic rx must be written. How did she not know that? Husband did not have time to come back and pick up the rx and bring it back before pharm closed… We asked her what we should do and she said to google a 24 hr pharmacy. Again, how does she not know of a 24 hr pharm for Sunday discharges? Then PT never got ordered. Called the hospital to find out what PT group was on rotation over the weekend and the nurses didn’t know. Luckily I somehow got connected to a very nice person at the hospital that got me set up with PT. She was wonderful. She and the ER staff are the only saving graces for this place. Never going there again!"

"My mom had to have emergency surgery this Friday and let me just say our experience at Northside Duluth was great despite what we were going through. The entire staff was excellent from the receptionist to the surgeon. Dr. Hall is one of the best doctors I have ever came in contact with. Dr. Hall not only provided comfort during this difficult time and also assured us that our mom was in good hands which she was with Northside!! Thank you all so much for everything!!!"

"This is one of the better hospitals in the area. They're always clean and polite. The emergency room is also always super fast. I've been a few times for emergencies and never had to wait more than 10 minutes or so."

"My emergency room nurse was Jaclyn and she was wonderful. When she rolled me over to the observation room I told her it would be difficult for any other nurse to provide me with her level of care and professionalism. I was right and wanted to go home after I was left in someone else’s hands from the Friday evening shift. I had a terrible experience with the evening nurse. I gave 5 stars because my experience with Jaclyn was so pleasant and professional it made me feel better. Even though my evening nurse argued with me and said I’m not going to argue with you Black man. She burst the IV drip over me and the floor. No clean up and replaced my fluids 1hour 10 minutes later. 1 bad apple can’t spoil the bunch in this case. I would like to thank Jaclyn personally so I hope she reads this. I plan to send a card and gift. My morning nurse Shayla was great also. I see why the evening nurse never put her name on the board because I can only imagine the complaints she receives"
