Reviews
"I had come through the ER. I had an issue with my leg and it was 3x the size of my right. From the man that gave me my bracelet. The intake nurses that started the IV and got me seen. Every single person was professional and honestly seemed to love their job. Not one person seemed irritated by questions from myself or my daughter. I have a special thank you for Alykhan Lalani, MD and his surgical staff that were here on call on a Saturday and took amazing care of me. Thank you doesn’t seem to be enough. I will forever be grateful to the people this week that all worked hard to get me walking again. Thank you for all your hard work"
"This hospital is a death sentence. They let me sit in the emergency waiting room for 6 hours while I was having a heart attack. It ended up that I needed emergency open heart surgery. Most of the nurses are okay. Some are horrible. Because of the horrible nurses, I developed debilitating anxiety that actually squeezed my chest until I couldn't breathe. And then, after my few days there, they sent me home and said good luck. If you make it, here is an appointment. Your doctor will see you in two weeks."
"Horrible. Get prepared to wait 5+ hours to be seen. It doesn’t matter if your brain is spilling out of your skull… You will have to wait hours until you finally get the registration lady. Then another 2 hours to be seen by a doctor. I’m literally not exaggerating. Don’t come after 10 if you hate sleeping in chairs."
"I recently arrived for what amounted to a 3 day stay. Wednesday morning, I was told by a close acquaintance (GI nurse) that this place, Kennestone, would be just what I needed to get help. At my acquaintance’s urging, I promptly drove myself to the expedited check in lobby, otherwise known as the ER (noticeable due to big red signs). I entered the check in lobby and was greeted by multiple moans and groans of other poor souls waiting for their turn to check in to this place of hospitality. Throughout my stay, it was always the little things that made the biggest difference, like when the staff member weighed me at check-in but used kilograms instead of pounds so I wouldn’t feel publicly self-conscious. After meeting the threshold for being checked in, I was taken to a back area with a small bed where more staff tended to my needs. They prepped me for anything I may need during my stay. Of note was the wristband, which not only served as a great reminder of my name, but also has convenient barcodes on it to directly charge any item, big or small, that the facility uses for my care directly to my tab. This whole “check in and your wristband will serve as your tab” idea was starting to feel more like a luxury cruise getaway, but right here in scenic historic Marietta! As I waited for my own special lodging accommodations, I was sent to a back-end waiting room similar to a high-end Delta SkyLounge. I noticed there were 2 chairs that reclined in the room, while the other 45 chairs looked terribly uncomfortable and would not recline. Before I made my way over to a reclining chair, I helped myself to a fresh warm blanket from the blanket warming machine (shhhh, I may have actually snagged 2 of them!). If this accommodation can afford full size hot blankets, Delta Airlines could certainly afford more than warm napkins for first class. Move over SkyLounge, make way for Kennestone’s warm blankets and waiting rooms! This establishment must be a bit avant-garde with their sleeping arrangements, because during my stay they were on a no-pillow policy. This was surprising, but I figured “what do I know? Maybe this is all the rage right now.” After a few hours of attempting to accommodate myself to the no-pillow lifestyle, I realized I was too weak. I had a friend bring me a new pillow from Walmart along with a fashionable Pioneer Woman branded pillowcase. Some of the most memorable things from my stay at Hôtel Kennestone would be the orchestra of machines beeping all around me at all times. I learned that slow beeps could be either a patient’s vitals monitor, but a different pitched beep outside would be another patient calling a nurse. And if a patient were in a lot of pain, the beeps would be fast! It was like an overwhelming Coldplay concert, if it were only performed somehow in Morse code. The bathroom I had was quaint, and it reminded me of my late grandmother’s guest bathroom that was built in 1963 and never has been updated. It was the kind of cozy yet also discomforting appearance only a 50+ year old bathroom can give. The tub was continually running a slow trickle, and the poop vent didn’t work (thank goodness nobody used my bathroom for that!) 5/10, might recommend During my stay I was offered the clear liquid diet, which consisted of Jello, apple juice, and clear ensure. Man, oh man, could I tell that the Jello chef in the kitchen had some experience whipping up Jello. It was properly jello-ey and wiggled just right. The apple sauce in the tiny cup reminded me of my fond memories in elementary school. And well, the Ensure reminded me more of what a hospice patient might consume. Anyhow, that Jello was great. 10/10. If you or a loved one is in need of a place to stay in the historic Marietta area, this all-inclusive (except for the pillows) lodging is definitely going to be on your list of lodging to consider! Admission thresholds are strict, but if you get in, grab that wristband, gown-up, and enjoy that jello and retro bathroom feel. Don’t forget the warm blankets! 11/10 would recommend"
