Steak 'n Shake

"Wow! Have not been here in a while and will not be back. The chili is now watered down steak burgers and milk shakes what I expected. They got rid of all wait staff and the place is 95% self service. Very empty but understandable considering lunch for 2 was almost $31.00. They will not survive the next recession."

"Giving this location 5 stars because it's the cleanest S&S I have been in. Shakes were excellent. Burgers were great. Fries were hot. I agree asking for a tip when you have to do most of the work is asinine. However, they (company wide) used to be Steak & Wait and tipping after waiting forever to order and forever for the food was even more infuriating. Still probably the best $5 deal in fast food."

"No other customers when we got here. Can totally understand why. This place is sterile looking and has about as much personality as play doh. You have to order your own food at a kiosk (which seemed to defective as it didn't want to acknowledge each request, without being pressed multiple times) as well as serve your own beverage. And they expect you to tip their effing @sses! Haha. What a joke. Food is brought out without any silverware. So you have to get the flimsy pastic silverware, that is ridiculous, yourself. They no longer have regular saltines as an option just oyster crackers. I can't believe how far down Steak and shake has fallen since they first opened in 1934. This establishment used to be a customer based sit down and be waited on restaurant. Having worked for Steak and shake in the past, I'm embarrassed by what has become of them. Only one person came in while we were here and he left disgusted, proclaiming that he'd won't be coming back here. The lack of service directly correlates to their lack of customers. Who basically wants to pay for doing half the work."

"Fantastic staff from order taker to line cooks to pickup window to in-store management. These guys learn your order and name over just a few trips. Burgers and fries and Frank dogs are Great. Hands down better than 5 guys, even cook out or any other FF or Chain burger. And IF you are in financial hardship they have a Free Frie Program and No Other FF or Chain around here is even offering anything. For health reasons our food must be No Salt. These guys understand heart failure, fluid retention caused by heart failure and sodium and how sodium cancels the fluid medicine. They understand Celiac. We can trust them to take care with our food. Miss the slaw for the Chili, Cheese, Frank Dog with mustard, ketchup, we order Grilled Onions and we bring slaw. They do great with a #7 Double Cheese Burger with Everything and I order Lots of Grilled Onions, No Salt on Anything including Fries. Food is always hot and juicy. They know our names and our orders and are super kind. We will be glad for warm weather at the car hop area, our date spot. Say Hello to Manager Wanda. She lives there. Oh, take the guys candy for Valentines. About 10 per shift."
