"Great experience here! Brisket was super tender with great flavor. Pulled pork had right amount of smoke. Collards and Mac n Cheese were all very good. Even the fries. This place is a local institution and a must visit when you’re in town."

"Some of the best collard greens I've ever eaten. Pulled chicken, beef ribs, collards, cornbread, Mac and cheese, black eyed peas, pulled chicken sandwich, and red neck lasagna are what you see in the images. They were all smoked, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chef didn't like the look of the last serving of burnt ends so we subbed in chicken for the daily special. I like it."

"Note: I've never been before. Glad I was the first in, served promptly. I was charged more than the menu read. A line cook suggested the pork because it was fresh. How could I say no. But it made me wonder about the rest...was it not good enough for service? The bread, fantastic! The pork, gotta say, pretty damn good! It was seasoned well and smoked nicely. The slaw on top, just meh. Pretty flavorless, needs some attention. The bbq sauces: liked them all, the mustard based one needs a revisit. The pork rinds: okay at best. Potato salad: pretty dang good. Mac n cheese: just stop. Stop serving this. Horrific! Great pasta choice- cavatappi! But the cheese sauce was like nacho cheese out of a bag, slightly seasoned up. To the line cook: change your gloves...often! Cleanliness: thumbs down, way down! Take some pride in your place. All of the condiment bottles had the previous day's runoff all over the outside. Tables were not wiped off either. Vents: clean them! Any vents I could see looked like they haven't been cleaned in a year. And, since you have a partial open kitchen...clean it! The carts, and such had gunk. I'd have to really think about visiting again."

"We were here early on a Sunday morning. The meat was dried out and it was evident that it had been reheated from the day before. I’ve worked in restaurants before and we always used leftover meats in soups, stews or casseroles. Reheating meat just isn’t as good as freshly cooked. The Mac and cheese were very good and the cornbread was so light and fluffy. The Brunswick stew was pretty good but had way too many tomatoes in it and hardly any meat. What meat was in there were huge pieces. Some of that leftover pork would’ve been great in it. I’d definitely go back to try Poole’s again."
