Tru by Hilton Harbison Columbia

"Checked into the hotel Friday 2/2/24 for a 2 night stay and the hotel room left much to be desired and had to ask for the room to be swept upon checking in. Was leaving to go out for the day and asked and WAS ASSURED that the room would be cleaned with fresh linen, towels, and trash taken out. Came back almost 8pm that night that WAS NOT cleaned. I WILL NOT be staying here again and will discouraged anyone from staying here!! And what I’m noticing since reading the reviews from **MONTHS AGO** is that the owners have the same standard responses but NOTHING HAS OR IS BEING DONE"

"There is no way Hilton could be proud of this property, and I am hoping a Hilton representative assesses the viability of this location and does so soon. This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in, and never have I experienced anything like this at any Hilton property before. I think the only 4 and 5-star reviews for this property are coming from the roaches that inhabit the rooms... Echoing many of these reviews, I played "musical rooms" and (somehow) each room was worse than the last. The room I (unfortunately) ended up in had two visible dead roaches, banged up walls, significant visible yellow gunk in the shower, and extremely sticky floors. There was a dried, sticky-looking puddle of an unidentifiable substance behind both of the nightstands, which was then covered in dust and bug debris. The woman at the front desk was less than helpful and rude/dismissive of my concerns - certainly not someone who should be in customer service. So why did I stay? I had spent 14 hours on the road that day and by the time I arrived, I was too tired to seek out a different location. But never again will I stay here and - to be frank - it has tarnished my view of Tru and other Hilton locations nationwide. I left ASAP the following morning."

"Our experience here was not anything like some of the previous reviews for this hotel. We found it neat and clean from the lobby to our room. Only complaint was the loud heat and air unit in the room. Breakfast was not fully ready to be served at 6 am as we were told. Food was average. Hotel is convenient to many restaurants and shopping. Also minutes away from the hospital."

"Hilton: If you put your name on a property I think you should periodically check the location to see if it meets your standards. I can't imagine this place meets them. I can echo much of what is said in some of these reviews. The man pictured was the outstanding employee upon checkout. Person on duty when we checked in was less than helpful. First room had something in the commode so I was moved to a different room. Thermostat broken but the window unit worked but the room was not the cleanest. My daughter's room had bugs and some sort of goop in the shower. External key reader on one door was broken or non existent. There were no cups available by the coffee dispensers. There were no cups in the rooms. There were no cups in the area where I find them in every Tru I stay in! We bypassed a different hotel because of reviews; I should have read these instead of relying on previous excellent Tru stays. I can guarantee I will check in the future. There will always be outliers either way but when so many sound the same I will take notice. We would have changed hotels but it was late and it had been a long day on the road. In retrospect I should have followed my first instincts instead of playing musical rooms and regretting it. Never again! This hotel as serious mechanical, cleaning, and maintenance problems. It must be one of the early Tru locations. Time for a makeover."

"I don’t know how this place is still in business. Hilton should be ashamed and the Health Department needs to be called. This place is filthy. There were bugs in the bed and the floors and walls are sticky. They told me the bug guy had just left so I guess others have seen the bugs and reported it too. The bathroom stinks and the towels look worn out. No one should be subjected to this. The price was outrageous because they took advantage of a busy weekend with everyone else being booked up. The front desk person and the housekeeper were very polite and understanding however the MANAGER of that location tried to convince me that the bugs were harmless and then credited me 5,000 points and tried to tell me that was equivalent to a nights stay at any Hilton when it’s actually only worth $50. Also I emailed her back to let her know this and she never responded so I had to call customer support. Customer support was very nice and tried to make it right but that manger doesn’t know how to run a hotel and I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here not even out of desperation like I did. I’ve never stayed in a motel but it’s probably better than this."
