Best Western Carowinds

"This hotel is the worst!! Was great before management has changed.. Not even 5 minutes after we got here, they have been calling and assuming that we are staying even though we are just VISITING. They would not stop harassing us.. we were visiting family and were told that visiting was not allowed even though it's not even anywhere in the rules. Never coming back! Racial profiling and rude management! Worst customer service ever!!"

"I’ve stayed at Best Westerns for years. I’ve been a member for years and I’ve never had an issue. This location however had an issue with my support animal although I’ve stayed at Best Westerns with my Support animal many times (across the country). I also provided the paperwork. Throughout my stay, I maintained my composure and tone, and stayed as polite and professional as possible. Even when I discovered that they made a payment error- they double charged the holding charge. I talked to the front desk about it and showed them a screenshot of the two pending charges on my credit card, and he still looked me in my eye and said he only charged me once. I called the credit card company and they confirmed that there were two charges. I’m currently reconciling the matter with my credit card company. If I had to do the whole thing over again, I would’ve paid the extra $$ for another 3-Star hotel to get some peace of mind, better accommodations, and a little respect. Best Western still scores in my book. However this location absolutely does not. I’ve also called corporate about them. Last note: the housekeeping service was very good and thorough. The room was clean with no hints of lingering odors, I made sure to tip them well."

"This hotel has pros and cons. First the good. Room was appropriate, quiet. I love that the bathroom lighting starts low and slowly gets brighter, great for middle of the night dashes. Also the water pressure was nice and hot. Towels were soft and inviting. This hotel might have the cleanest smelling elevator I have experienced. Parking is free. Hotel room doors all seem to have a protected metal door jam near the handles which I assume assists with security of the room. The not so good: it started with the check in. I had requested an early checkin online if possible. I know it's not always possible. However when it's not then I usually get a notification sent to me that it is not. So I received no notification and I drove from the airport to quickly check in early at 1pm before heading out to a job and was told no. When I pressed because I never received a response to my initial request I was told it would cost $40 more. Which as a platinum member is supposed to be free. So I declined and went ahead to do my business for the day and come back later after 8p. It is what it is, I had not driven out of my way too far, no big deal. Just wish they would have read my request and replied with a no early on. Check in went fine later. In the room literature it says breakfast is available starting at 6am, but was told at check in, and also confirmed at breakfast by the large sign in the lobby, that breakfast here starts at 7am. So this location seems to be more geared toward families and not to travelers who need to be out to work early like construction (just FYI). Also breakfast was free so wasn't amazing, however there were only a couple options available ( I mean only a couple options available as in I mean fewer options than other BW hotels). Again, not everyone does the hotel breakfasts so not a deal breaker. Due to the location and the overall experience with the room, I could see myself coming back."

"The rooms were spacious enough and clean. The staff was nice and accommodating. Loved the water pressure of the shower. The breakfast wasn't as good as other Best Westerns that we've stayed, but it was ok. There's a Mexican restaurant right next door.. we walked over and had dinner there.. We only stayed 0ne night and we had no issues."

"Arrived to our room to find dead and alive stink bugs all in the room. It was a large amount and they were flying everywhere. They switched our room and when we walked in it was the same issue (both on the third floor). When we went to tell the front desk again, this time we were looking to just find a different hotel all together, the person at the front desk took us to the first floor into a new room. There were no stink bugs this time, but it had an odd smell and everything felt dirty. We went to the store and bought disinfectant spray and wipes. The doors are odd and you can see all the light from the hallway and noises. We picked this hotel because of the convenient location to Carrowinds, but I’d definitely opt to stay somewhere nicer and farther away next time. All in all, I wish we would’ve just took our loses and found a new hotel."
