"I wanted to share my experience so that no one else is put in the uncomfortable position I was. I valued the expertise of my therapist Caitlin but the restrictions and policies pushed onto her by the practice she works for ultimately forced me to end my relationship with her. When I began my couples therapy journey with my boyfriend, my financial information was taken. At no point was there ever a conversation that I was the sole payment method on file. I assumed they had taken both of our information equally and we would be paying separately for our sessions- as we are not married and do not share finances. When I realized I was being charged for everything I contacted the office manager Kateri and was met with incredibly rude responses “sounds like you need to talk to your therapist about your financial concerns” “it’s not our job to figure out your poor financial planning”…The failure to be transparent caused financial arguments to ensue in my relationship. It also created resentment between us. My boyfriend and I then decided we should pause or space out our sessions until he could pay me back. We were then made aware of T.S.’ THIRTY DAY CANCELLATION POLICY. We were told we did not have the option to see our therapist any less than ONCE A WEEK (which is ridiculous because ongoing weekly therapy is a crutch and the client should be allowed to eventually decide their own path…not to mention who could perpetually afford $800-$1000 a month in this economy?!) and if we canceled/rescheduled any future sessions I would be charged regardless. We were then bullied into termination and our case was dropped without any offerings of recommendations for a new therapist. The way this was handled left us both feeling taken advantage of and exhausted."
