"The Imaging Center at the Brooklyn Hospital is utterly incompetent. My mother went in for a sonogram, which was scheduled for 12:30 pm. We waited until 3:30 pm. Of course, situations crop up and there are things beyond people’s control - technology, for once thing, or the subway. But in that case, human interaction and clear communication is more necessary than ever - especially at a hospital setting. The receptionists and the supervising doctor were both extremely unhelpful and downright rude, speaking to my mother in an extremely discouraging and condescending tone when she - rightfully so - inquired about the absurdly long wait time. She was given a flimsy excuse the second time she asked, and was dismissed the first time - she was brusquely told “there are four people in front of you sweetheart” - and the third, loudly spoken down to and informed that she had previously asked. No solid explanation was given or offered in the first place. Not only was this an extremely unpleasant situation to navigate, but also a flagrant dismissal of her time. I am baffled that an institution of heath and wellbeing is running its facilities as such. How dare you treat my mother as though she is a nuisance and not entitled to an explanation? How dare you keep your patients waiting for hours on end without clarifying the situation? How dare you speak so callously and dismissively to my mother, who had to set aside a full work day to come in? People’s time is not disposal. People’s rightful inquires as to the delay in their schedule is not an imposition. People should be treated with respect and consideration at all times, but especially at a hospital setting where emotions are running high. I am quite frankly disgusted at the Brooklyn Hospital Imaging Center’s inability to provide the most basic of care and accountability."
