"This is great little trail series of you're looking for a quick loop with a decent altitude change. Thevfirst 1/2 mile or so is a lead in to the trail heads and is slightly more muddy than the rest of the trail-shoes beware on the way out! The Canyon Ridge Trail is a 2.6 mile loop that starts at the top, loops to all the way down through playful creeks and moss-covered rocks to a beautiful and serene cascade. The next 1.5 miles or so is pretty, but rapidly uphill with several quick switchbacks. Dogs are welcome on a leash, but be careful if you have a puller as there are several steep staircases and most of the foot path is quite narrow. There's a small overlook that is an additional .1 miles up from Canyon Ridge-very steep, but lovely overlook with a bench."

"Excellent hike. Plenty of space for parking and very scenic while hiking and on the way up driving. We took the cascade trail which is about 3.6 mi total and it was pretty easy. If you want a real challenge, I would recommend you to go straight from the trailhead. We took an immediate right and it was an easier path. I believe it’s well maintained and it’s beautiful!"

"A great hiking gem to discover! Beautiful views in the winter :) Trails have elevation changes with the Blue Steps going down to the right and twitchbacks of the left coming back up...or reverse that is you like steps on the way back."

"Beautiful painted picture oak and pine fall trail. 2 loops. 4 miles if you do the two extension which are well worth it. The red is easy to moderate and the blue is moderate plus with fairly steep switchbacks to cover the 800 feet of elevation. Not great for young kids b/c of single path and rough switchback turns. The waterfall is more of a cascading stream but beautiful. A TOP HIKE IN THE ROANOAKE REGION."

"Round trip about 3.6 miles if you do the longer trail and visit the overlooks. Trail was well marked, but kind of steep. Its all switchbacks going down then back up. The waterfall is small, but it was pretty, and my dogs were able to take a nice swim. There are a few creeks throughout the trail to stop and let the pups take a drink. The overlook was beautiful! I was the only one on the trail at 8am on a friday"
