"The first person we spoke to was nice, however there must be something wrong with the management because I brought in three almost brand new Vans shirts, and they insinuated that I "made them myself." Needless to say I was insulted. And out of an entire eleven gallon bag, it took two hours for them to take two items and give us five dollars."

"The past two times I’ve tried to sell my clothes, they’ve denied them because of “smell” which I never smelt anything... So this time I finally asked “what smell?” And they asked me if I had pets so I said yes and they said “yeah, animal odor”. Well… I’ve had my dog for 6 years and I’ve always had him since I’ve been selling/buying clothes here and they never complained about “animal odor”. Plus not to mention… I wash my clothes before I sell them. After I talked to them back and forth, they suggested that I Febreze them. They couldn’t tell me which ones specifically smelled like “animal odor” so I re-folded the clothes that they threw back in my basket unfolded… and took them to Uptown Cheapskate (another place you can sell your clothes in Lexington) right after I left Plato’s Closet. Uptown Cheapskate had no problems with my items, took my clothes, and gave me cash for them. I’m not saying my clothes are in style, but I know they don’t smell like my dog coming out of my dryer. If I gave you too much clothes to go through close to the end of your shift, just say you were too lazy to go through them. Or just tell me straight up my style is not trendy. You don’t have to be rude and make me feel bad about the “animal odor” that no one else could smell and try to advertise Febreze."

"This place is very degrading as far as women's sizes go. They never specified that you have to be skinny to sell your clothes here. They took none of my stuff besides hats/scarfs. Everything was name brand pink, Nike, nine west, champion, the dates on the manufacturer tag were all 21 or 22. They took none of it. Yet took all of my boyfriends clothes even though the manufacturer date was much later just bc he's an average sized male! Will never set foot in this place again and if you aren't a size 3 or under I wouldn't recommend it. Sadly this isn't the first comment about them discriminating against the size of women."

"Absolutely fantastic store! I’ve shopped at literally several dozen Plato’s Closets during our road trips, and this is definitely one of the best. This store is well organized and clean, has a great selection, competitive and consistent pricing, and lots of employees who were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back the next time we’re passing through!"
