"We visit this area every summer, this was our first time staying @ Shenandoah Stars, and we were not disappointed. The layout of the cabin was spacious enough, our family of 5 and 1 dog had plenty of room and didn't feel like we were right on top of eachother. The screened porch with hot tub was very nice on late nights, we were able to enjoy ourselves without the light attracting all the bugs. The fire pit was beautifully placed within view of the river, perfect to relax around the fire and enjoy all the scenery. We were catfishing @ night and the flood lights off the back porch really helped illuminate the area for better viewing-- next time we will be sure to bring enough flashlights, as it was still fairly hard to see down by the river. The area of river was fairly shallow, something we wanted, as our children could safely play and explore the river without any strong currents or extremely deep pockets--- it was absolutely perfect. The river's water was crystal clear, another positive, as we were able to see where we were stepping, and we were also able to watch out for any snakes. We saw 2 huge Northern Water Snakes, which is absolutely expected in nature, but they left us alone and we left them alone-- no problem at all. We caught many Bluegill, Small mouth Bass, and we had the BEST catfishing after dark-- fantastic fishing! We only had 2 issues; number 1 was the grill-- the previous renters caught the grill on fire and we weren't able to get the grill above 250 degrees.. not necessarily a huge deal for us, as we only used the grill for hotdogs, burgers, and steaks.. unfortunately the owners will most likely need to purchace a new grill, not any fault of their own. The 2nd problem was the hot tub when we first arrived; the water was extremley murky with a greenish hue. I could smell the chemicals (shock, antifoam, etc) that the cleaning crew had applied-- so I knew it had been cleaned prior to our arrival. I called Sandy, the housekeeper/manager, she called me back promptly and arrived the next morning-- unfortunately she had to drain the entire hot tub. She got in and scrubbed everything and filled it back up for us. After that, it was perfect! She was amazing, very kind and professional. I felt terrible that she had to come out, but she didn't complain one bit.. she truly was a gem! The owners refunded us for the hot tub that first night, something they absolutely did not need to do-- but it was certainly appreciated. The owners, the rental company, and Sandy (housekeeper/manager) all promptly handled the situation-- the customer service went above and beyond our expectations, especially since these 2 problems weren't necessarily any fault of their own. We had a marvelous vacation! I especially enjoyed having my morning cup of coffee while watching the sun rise over the river, with Blue Herring bathing themselves, Osprey diving down and grabbing fish out of the river-- complete peace and quiet, except for the beautiful nature around me and the crackling of the fire. It truly was Heaven on Earth. We will continue to return, and I would 100% recommend this cabin to anyone-- it has everything!"
