Homewood Suites by Hilton Yorktown Newport News

"After placing a food delivery order soon after checking in, I did not appreciate the front desk staff telling the delivery person that they could not deliver my handful of food/beverage to my room directly. I specifically instructed my delivery person to kindly leave my food at my hotel room on floor 2, however the deliverer could not due to the front advising that she was not allowed to do so. This made for a very troublesome and unexpected trip downstairs and then back up, trying to balance 4 bags of food and carrying a 1-year-old child. This was a completely inconsiderate action made by the front desk staff as they saw me check-in an hour prior, already struggling to hold my baggage and my child as we were traveling alone. It would have been nice to simply allow my food deliverer to drop off my order as instructed. It caused a hardship and ultimately reflects in my review of an otherwise great hotel. This was a poor decision and I did not appreciate it."

"First of all, Karen at the front desk made me feel more than welcome. She made me feel like family. I love the location and theme of this hotel. I needed something central and safe as I was traveling by myself. This place is really nice and for the price, I was amazed. I will be booking this location again! I will also use these particular type of hotels again too. It’s great value."

"I had reserved a 3 night stay at Homewood Suites Yorktown Newport News and ended up leaving after 1 day due to poor unsafe and unsanitary conditions of the hotel. Upon arrival, the room was extremely dirty. The sink and bathtub were broken. As pictured, this is how it looked upon arrival to the room and they did not drain for the entire day we were there. And soon enough I saw roaches climbing out from behind the kitchen cabinets. There were multiple of them, clearly an infestation running deeper than that room alone. Soon enough I saw them in more than just the kitchen and they were over the tables too. Roaches and other bugs. This was extremely unsanitary and disgusting. I immediately moved a majority of my belongings back out to my car in fear that I would end up bringing something home with me. I could not stay in these conditions and I checked out early. I was only supposed to be charged for one night and they have charged me for two when these unsanitary and unsafe conditions caused me to leave early. Especially regarding this situation, the ABSOLUTE least they could’ve done was refund me for the night I did not stay (August 25th). Not to mention, this was my birthday. And I left early and drove throughout the night for 8 hours just to get back home because this place was so filthy I could not stay there. I have NEVER experienced this at a hotel before, let alone a Hilton. I cannot believe how insanely filthy this hotel was and that they would put people in these rooms knowing the unsanitary and unsafe conditions. And on top of that, to charge me for a night I did not stay. I checked out early and was told I’d get a call from the manager in the morning. I never received a call from anyone, just got emailed my bill. This is beyond infuriating and I would never have expected such a terrible experience from a hotel that should be held to Hilton standards."

"This was one of the best places my husband and I have ever stayed. There were three older women working when we checked in that were all absolutely incredible people. They upgraded us to an even bigger suite for our anniversary, and were extremely friendly. The room was incredible too! Squeaky clean, and very comfortable! We were able to get a late checkout as well. I highly recommend treating yourself to a stay here! It was fantastic!~"
