"Really beautiful building, inexpensive concessions, and a brief organ show right before the movie, which was a nice surprise!"

"This neighborhood theater on West Cary Street s an architectural gem! It opened on Christmas Eve in 1928, and has been a favorite destination ever since. "The Mighty Wurlitzer", an impressive organ originally installed to provide live music played to accompany the action in silent films, still rises up from the orchestra pit for live performances before movie showings."

"Viewing a movie here is a magical experience. The theater primarily hosts second-run and classic films, but also shows art films and hosts film festivals. If you like going to movies, but not paying movie prices, this is the place for you! There is only one showing of each movie so you have to subscribe to their email (or check the website) to know what will be playing for the month. Family movies are the exception where they usually will show the same film twice during the month with one showing sensory-friendly (house lights up and sound down). Very reasonably priced too. For a regular movie, you can get your ticket, a drink and a large popcorn for under $20. With those prices you can afford dinner before or after in Carytown. Well, at least ice cream from across the street."

"I would consider moving to Richmond for this theater alone. Inglourious Basterds in 35mm film was an absolute dream viewing. I can't wait to come back soon."

"We had so much fun seeing a movie in this historic theater! The organ player was a great surprise to us, and the building is absolutely stunning. We will definitely be back for more showings!"
