"Have stayed there twice, both times in cabins. The food, delivered hot and perfectly presented to your door makes our mouths water just reminiscing about it. Beds are comfy; even the pull out sofa bed. Love the porches. Don't bother paying extra for a cabin with "extra privacy"; ours was at the end of a road facing back down the road, whereas the first cabin I stayed in with my bestie, the view from the porch was awesome and it was soo much more private."

"Great place to visit for a mountain getaway. The cabins and yurts are very comfortable and cozy. The bar at the lodge is well stocked and drinks are perfectly prepared. The food is delicious. Bring rugged shoes and take one of the well marked trails. Relax and enjoy. This is a great place to unwind. Highly recommend."

"What a special place! We had our first weekend at Savage River Lodge, and stayed in a cabin that faced the woods. It was the most serene location, simple and spare but beautiful. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights and enjoyed the food immensely. We especially liked Thaddeus the bartender. Can’t wait to go back!"

"My daughter and I spent a few days here in late August. The setting is lovely - peaceful, with quiet trails all around the property. We hiked about two-thirds of the 14 miles of trails, which were well marked and maintained. We stayed in a yurt, it was a fun experience. It had everything we needed, including thoughtful touches like homemade hot chocolate and french press coffee. The yurt was a memorable experience, and we enjoyed hanging out and reading and listening to the wind blowing through the nearby trees. The staff communicated primarily through text messages, checking in and promptly addressing questions and concerns. The only negative aspect of our stay was the restaurant. First, we had pre-ordered lunch the day before and arrived at 12:20 for a 12:30 pick-up. We were told it would be "just a few minutes" and so we waited. And waited. Along with other guests. The two boxes sandwiches eventually arrived after 1pm and we left, although other guests were still waiting for their meals. Second, our dinner experience was not great. The staff were friendly and the service was great, but much of the menu was not available and the food was not very good. They were out of three entrees, including the only vegetarian option, and one (of three) desserts. Our food took over an hour to arrive and was mediocre at best - it tasted reheated and poorly prepared. Overall it was a fun stay and I would recommend it. I plan to go back, but avoid the restaurant next time."
