"The female owner neglects all of these animals. Dogs & cats alike. I reached out about a cat, waited months. In turn got another cat as I heard nothing. Then they reached out. A volunteer, not the home owner/property owner. I visited & the condition of the shelter was beyond deplorable. The cat was then vaccinated prior to departure. She told me to get a rabies vaccine in the future. It would be “too much” in one day. Why weren’t these cats vaccinated previously? She had diarrhea in the crate on the way back. The bodies response to over vaccination? I then received an email stating that she was mistaken & my cat is all caught up. My cat smelled horrific for months. The odor of the shelter stayed on her. I have now had 3 mouth surgeries to remove all teeth but 4 & she is under 2 years. Each surgery was close to $1000 or over. It’s a double edged sword with this shelter. You don’t want to leave the animals to suffer longer with her. Yet you don’t want to reward her either. It needs to be shut down. The animals need to be rescued from this shelter."
"Not only did I have to email twice and also send them a message on facebook to get a response, I was floored at the condition of the rescue. I chose to adopt the cat I had came for and it felt like I rescued him from the "rescue". The cat room is about the size of a shed, with 10 or so cats in it. She told me there was a "recent" outbreak of fleas, but between the fact that several cats were missing fur and that my cat had a herpes flare up from the stress of having fleas, I highly doubt the fleas were new. My cat was caked with flea dirt and two weeks later he hasn't been able to groom it all out yet. The cats are skinny enough you can feel their ribs and spine when you pet them, and their paws are wet from walking around in the urine on the floor. The dogs also have visible ribs and a puppy out front in a cage had a lot of feces on the floor, at least a weeks worth. There's also a pig that had eaten all the grass within its reach around its enclosure and you could still see its ribs. Never in my life have I been able to see a pigs ribs. All in all the place offers no quality of life to its animals. The owner Sheila seems to have her heart in the right place but she told me she's the sole caretaker of over 100 animals, which explains why none of them are well cared for. I filed a police report, as have other people who have been here. The police are aware of the ongoing issue and have made several visits to the place. I hope Shelia surrenders some of the animals in her care."
"Communication is lacking. Requires repeated outreach to get a response. This organization has a reputation for being overwhelmed by the number of animals in their care; those animals seem to suffer as a result. The organization will not adopt to folks who use highly rated local vets and the result is their animals languish while waiting to be adopted longer than they should. Probably well-intentioned but chronic management issues stain their reputation. They could do better but seem resistant to feedback."
"Terrible service! I applied for a cat and never received an email or a call back. I was in contact with multiple volunteers on Facebook messenger and they were somewhat helpful, but they seemed a little disorganized (which is understandable since they are just volunteers). It makes me wonder the situation of the animals at this place. Go to a humane society, it will be much easier..."
"Sheila found me the perfect dog (for me.) Jiminy is the sweetest dog I’ve ever known. And he is quick and smart and a lovely agility prospect. The adoption process was easy."
