"Title: Big Bear Lodge: Rustic Charm with Room for Improvement Review: Big Bear Lodge presents a quaint, mom-and-pop ambiance but with a few noticeable gaps in the experience. The lodge has a distinct old-place smell, which might be off-putting for some guests. A notable downside was the lack of coffee or tea facilities, both in the rooms or at the front desk. This absence was felt during our stay and would be a valuable addition to guest comfort. On the upside, the lodge features an intriguing outdoor spa and offers spacious areas for group gatherings, which are great for those traveling with friends or family. While the lodge has its rustic charm, addressing these small details could greatly enhance the overall guest experience."

"This lodge is rather basic as far as rooms are concerned, but I have never met more gracious and friendly hosts! They worked their butts off for the large group of us that were there for five nights with absolutely delicious breakfasts and dinners, and all with humor and friendliness! The lodge is spotless, close to attractions, and the hosts were attentive and accommodating to every need. For anyone who gives this place a negative review, you must be spoiled brats who think you deserve the world because you pay for a room.I hope I get the chance to return someday. I had always heard New Englanders were not the warmest hearted folks but that was certainly not the case here, and I found myself tearing up as we waved goodbye this morning. Steve and Caroline, I miss you already. You were lovely and your hospitality was spot on! ❤️"

"Wanted to go to VT for a weekend hiking/exploring. I live in NE but never really spent much time in VT so I took a chance on this place. We really loved it! It is so clean and nicely decorated and you can tell the owners (who are on-site) take the utmost pride in their business. The breakfast was actually served to us in the dining area which was a very nice touch. A quick drive to Wilmington and Brattleboro and a few minutes from Mt Snow. We were lucky we picked a weekend with events on the mountain but we were still able to drive to the towns during the day. Will definitely stay here again."

"Clean and spacious, the friendly owners have held space for our lively bunch for this years family reunion and many others passed. We are always satisfied, even when the weather is rainy, and have a lovely time with the many accommodations, simple but yummy breakfasts, and diligent, thoughtful staff and owners. We are all very grateful to be able to gather in a place that is genuinely timeless. Having fans on hand would certainly give the main dining area a boost, and luckily there were some tucked away for just that! Look forward to visiting again in a few years!"

"Hungry Bears Beware! This is our second stay at Big Bears. On the first stay my husband and son enjoyed their stay: their room was comfy, the hot tub available and breakfast was plenty. For our second stay, our room was over the boiler room (room 13) and was super warm. We slept with the window completely open and we were still a bit too warm. The hot tub was not available, which is very disappointing for a ski hotel. These things on their own were tolerable. What wasn’t was the breakfast on the second morning. My 14-year-old son ordered pancakes and bacon for breakfast. He was served one 5 inch pancake and two pieces of bacon. Needless to say a teen boy who was about to spend the day skiing needed more food and was still hungry. When we politely asked another pancake, we were told we could not have anymore food, unless we wanted to eat our other family members’ servings."
