Somerset Animal Shelter, also known as the Somerset Humane Society Animal Shelter, is a 501(c)3 no-kill shelter located in Skowhegan, Maine. Our mission is to promote respect, responsibility, and compassion for all animals through education, advocacy, and leadership. We provide temporary housing and care for stray and abandoned animals, as well as rehabilitate injured pets and find suitable homes for those that are not reclaimed. We rely on private donors to fund our programs and services, as we do not receive federal tax money or have affiliations with other humane organizations. "I got my baby Tucker here we're now living in Florida ,Great staff, Tucker suffered fm a very bad ear infection, an I couldn't get him in any place, I call all the way to NH, my own vet was booked, I called them freaking out, they took charge got him into their vets,an od for his meds I'm great ful I lost my baby poodle I had 14 years on Christmas day 2022, an I needed give another dog the love Emily got for 14 years, I was depressed, lonely an crying daily, Thank you for matching me with Tucker,"
"I had a great experience at the Somerset Humane Society in Skowhegan! I drove all the way from Brewer when there was a severe shortage of adoptable pets in the Bangor area. I got to adopt a sweet, beautiful female cat who has made my life so much better at a dark time. The staff at this facility are awesome! They take great care of the cats. They are helpful, courteous and respectful to adopters. Wonderful attitudes and customer service. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a pet. I think you will be very satisfied and it will be well worth it!"
"We just adopted a six month old black and white kitten. She seems too like her new home and is very happy and playful despite just being spayed yesterday. She came with all her first round of shots, as well as a flea treatment. My seven year old daughter loves her and I'm sure they will be the best of friends! The shelter staff was very helpful, and made picking her up a breeze. Thank you Skowhegan Animal Shelter for getting my daughter her first pet! I would recommend anyone to stop in and look around! They are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays."
