"Chef Mikko serves up the best Finnish dishes: cardamom rolls, gourmet open face sandwiches, grav lox, salmon soup...all the delicacies of Finland. You can order takeaway main dishes of so many types, from lamb stew to baked whitefish. And desserts!!! Try the cranberry tarts!!! No surprises there, he moved here about 15 years as the private chef of the ambassador of Finland. Happy Hour every day from 4 to 7."

"Came for $15 Swedish meatballs when I was in town. The portion size was big enough to last me two meals. The mashed potatoes were good and lumpless, the salad was fine, but the meatballs were a little tough. Nice outdoor space to sit quietly for a bit though."
"I love Nordic food, so was excited to try Mikko on a recent trip to Washington. This is a fun restaurant just behind Dupont Circle. There is no indoor seating, but the outdoor space is colorful and fun on a summer evening. We shared their pickled herring small plate, which was truly excellent. The entrées were a little disappointing. The lamb burger, chicken schnitzel and salmon were all fine, but didn't seem particularly Nordic. I'd love to have main dishes that I couldn't find elsewhere and had the unique flavors of Scandinavian. Overall, good food but a little mainstream. But the cocktails were great."
"Cozy place with awesome cocktails! They do a pretty good happy hour daily 4-7pm. There food is very interesting… worth giving it a try! I got the North Star w/o simple syrup"
