"I have postponed leaving this review in hopes that the situation would resolve on it’s own. I hate leaving negative feedback but people need to have all the information they need to make an informed decision. I selected Our Family Handyman based on his online reviews and now wish I’d done more research. I had a signed contract with Our Family Handyman to remodel my basement based on time and materials. Per the contract, work would start February 2023 and conclude May 2023. Workers showed up sporadically and by August his team was still working on drywall patching and mudding. By September, Kyle completely abandoned the job. I paid every invoice on time so I’ll never know why he stopped responding to texts, emails and phone calls. Requests for him to simply deliver the materials I had paid for and never received went unanswered. What follows is my summary of issues I had with Kyle and his workers. After reviewing all invoices I found that Kyle charged me for an exterior door, storm door and column cap sets that was never delivered/installed. He also disposed of fully-functioning bi-fold doors, only to charge me for purchasing new ones which were never delivered. There was also a miscalculation on use of my deposit, the balance now remains at $544.00. Kyle also overcharged for disposal fees $250. As for workmanship; the flooring was installed before the walls were painted. The floor was not protected while work continued. This neglect resulted in me spending 18 hours cleaning paint, cement and grout off the flooring. While cleaning the flooring, I found over 15 points of damage to the flooring which will require entire sections of the floor to be replaced in order to protect the waterproof integrity. All of the walls had to be repainted to cover damage and poor painting techniques. The drywall around all outlets had to be patched to cover gaps. Pocket door hardware had to be removed, patched and reinstalled to cover mistakes. Kyle abandoned this project without installing the bathroom toilet, countertop, plumbing fixtures, baseboard heating, ceiling tiles, exterior doors, three interior doors, support post encasements, stair railing, and fixing the flooring his worker damaged. I have called in other trades people to finish this project and from them I’m still learning some of the errors Kyle and his worker made in this project which will need to be fixed before the job can be completed This is obviously thousands of dollars I’ve lost and I will be seeking legal compensation. I absolutely do not recommend Our Family Handyman. If interested I have the detailed timeline, photographic evidence and additional details."

"Kyle and Aiden were a pleasure to have in our home! They were always courteous of us and what was most convenient for us when we unexpectedly found ourselves needing a major structural project in the kitchen at the same time we had scheduled Kyle and his team to remodel a full bathroom for us. They worked fast and efficiently and kept everything useable for us for as many days as possible. They were prompt each day, and very good at communicating. The estimate and subsequent contract, as well as the invoices and payment schedule, was extremely professional and Kyle explained things very well along the way. He gave us confidence he did everything the right way, every step of the way. He clearly went above and beyond in many ways, especially in quickly finding us additional servicemen when needed, such as an engineer. His positive attitude was refreshing for us, especially with the complexity and frustration of the structural project (which existed prior to hiring Kyle). Lastly, the work was stellar and we really felt Kyle had our best interest at heart. This was clear the whole time- from the estimate process, design choices, mid-work, and consistently after work was done making sure we were happy. I don’t believe Kyle would have let us make any bad choices (such as bad quality product choices or poor design) as he was involved in every step and was consistently able to provide his knowledge and advice clearly, helping us make sound choices from anything as small as paint color to as big as the structural dilemma we had to address. Kyle and his wife Katie throughly cleaned areas effected by construction dust (such as the exterior of all kitchen cabinets) which I deeply appreciated and felt was far beyond what was expected, again showing Kyle’s dedication to his work and customers! Hiring Kyle was an immense blessing to our family and we are so thankful for him and his team!"
