"I have lived around the corner from this neighborhood landmark/establishment for 10 years and not only is Augie a staple and hero of the neighborhood, he truly provides a wonderful experience for his customers. I have no idea what some of these people are speaking of, he is a niche business and he's been in this location and servicing this area for over 40 years!!! Some of these reviews are disrespectful to that fact!! He is a pleasant, bright man and anyone who talks to him for one second knows that he is nothing more than a proud New Yorker, and he handles his business and relationships with customers and friends in the neighborhood like a true diplomat. I looked at some of the negative reviews and I could tell that a few of them were freaking bots, also I can't imagine in all these years of doing business that someone won't be satisfied completely.... but this man, this shop owner is a true gem."
"I have been coming here for 50 years. I have had every kind of pet at one time or another and this where I always go when I want a particular species. Fish, bird, mammal, reptile or amphibian; They are always strong and healthy and I always rely on Augie's knowledgeable advice on how to keep my new pets HAPPY. Of the fish: You really should see for yourself his individually hand picked specimens, They can be appreciated for their size, most vibrant colors, stress free natural behavior, damage free fins and body and apatite. Of birds: So many varieties, blues, greens, gold, pied, and some bonded pairs ready for breeding. They are beautiful, friendly and handfed."
"I like to visit fish stores and shops when traveling. This store opened at 9:30am but the owner was parked illegally and not letting us in because he didn't want to get a ticket. If visiting on a Monday or Thursday, I recommend waiting until after 11am so you can actually be let in."
"I bought a beautiful pair of Ringneck Doves. It is nice to see that you can still find a good selection of birds in a local family owned Pet Shop."
