"A room to sleep in. I have gold Accor status, so was supposed to get an upgrade (if available) although I don't think I did. If it was, I shudder to think what would be below the room I was given. On check in I asked for late checkout on my last day (I was staying for two nights), and was told no. Did get a welcome gift in the room consisting of a bottle of red, and some pre-packaged cakes. It was nice, but a bottle of water would have been welcome - frankly instead of the wine or cakes. No separate/additional 'welcome drink' voucher was provided. None of this is a complaint - I know that room upgrades etc are subject to availability - but just a note for other frequent Accor travellers. I've stayed in smaller rooms, but it was not spacious. It was long and narrow. Could have been arranged better, allowing a large chair, couch or separate desk near the window. Small TV mounted on wall opposite bed. Blackout blinds, but not soundproof - allowing road noise in from outside. Sound proofing between rooms not bad but could also be a bit better. There was a reverse cycle unit in the room that frankly was struggling against the almost sub zero temperature of a Canberra morning. Shower over bath, one of my pet hates, with two sets of controls - have to reach around a fixed glass screen to turn on water so you get alternately frozen then burnt as you adjust it. Water pressure fairly weak but good enough. Shower head low - I'm 6 foot 3 and was looking at the top of the shower head. Could move it up, but end result was not really ideal as low water pressure meant a lot of bending down to wash hair. Tissues are the type that fall apart virtually by looking at them. The room was clean and tidy, but overall showing its age - not just the layout but in particular the bathroom with worn fittings etc. Breakfast - hot food actually was luke warm at best. Soggy bacon. Soggy potato gems/tater tots. Baked bean mush. This was early in the morning which makes you wonder when it was actually cooked. Coffee available from a machine that tasted like bad filtered coffee. At least there were decent tea bags. If having breakfast here, I'd just stick to toast or cereal. A huge choice of either rice bubbles or nutri grain. I definitely would not pay for breakfast - far far better off going to a local Cafe or simply Maccas. There was a barista cart just outside the restaurant entrance where you could pay for I assume better coffee, but I didn't risk it. Overall I'd say this hotel is better compared to an ok country roadside motel, although I'll also say I've stayed at motels that were significantly better. Three stars, borderline brought up to 3.5 by the staff who seemed quite friendly and how clean - if aging - the room was. Although the location is good, for the price I paid there are definitely better options in Canberra."
"Room decor and fittings are aging somewhat, but my room was very big with large kitchen/dining/lounge and separate bedroom with lots of space for the desk if you need to work. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good."
"Had a 5 night stay in a 1 bedroom apartment. The positives were pleasant staff, comfortable bed and proximity to Canberra Centre and cafes/restaurants. On the downside it was extremely outdated, basically furnished, very little natural light, looked directly onto the building next door, windows were filthy, the swimming pool was weird (dingy enclosed room accessed via a fire escape), wifi was slow and the underground car park was quite possibly the worst I’ve ever been in - so tight I truly feared smashing my car each time I took it in or out. Much of this might be excusable if it were cheap, but it wasn’t. Can’t recommend based on my experience."
"Room was basic and in need of a make over. Fly screen ripped and just the whole atmosphere was dull. Had to pay in full on arrival then they take another $100 bond not sure what we could have ruined to be honest and another $15 to park there."
"Made the mistake of not reading the description when booking. I’ve stayed at many mantras before and assumed it would be like the others. This is a 4 star, however we think it should be a 3. The rooms are outdated which is okay, however their no daily house keeping. For a four star hotel we would have assumed their was house keeping. What hotels don’t have smart TVs these days ? Unable to watch anything on tv. The milk watchers in the fridge were out of Date and had to walk down to reception to collect towels/Toilet paper ourselves. Definitely won’t stay here again and will Be sure to be careful when booking next time. Really did expect better from a four star hotel."
