Crater Community Hospice Thrift Shop, located at 3916 South Crater Road in Petersburg, Virginia, is a store dedicated to providing financial support for hospice care to patients in need. With a mission to "Celebrate Life Every Day", the Thrift Shop offers a wide range of high quality, affordable merchandise to the community. Donations of gently used clothing, books, sporting goods, furniture, and household items are accepted at both the Petersburg and Midlothian locations. Managed by Rick Bowman and Assistant Manager Charlotte Williams, the store is grateful for all donations and asks that items be donated during normal store hours. All proceeds from the Thrift Shop go towards offsetting the costs of patient care for families in the community. Items that don't sell may be recycled to further support the hospice's mission. Gently used furniture donations are accepted as long as they are in resaleable condition and come from a smoke-free environment with minimal wear and tear. Prior to dropping off furniture or requesting a pick-up, donors are asked to complete a form available on the institution's website. VSU Randolph Farm is a 416-acre agricultural learning center located at 4415 River Road in Petersburg, Virginia, United States. As a part of the university, Randolph Farm serves as a hub for agricultural research, demonstration, and instruction activities. The farm produces traditional row crops and also focuses on new and niche crops, alternative cropping methods, horticultural crops, nutrient management, water quality, animal production, and aquaculture production. The Cooperative Extension Pavilion at Randolph Farm houses faculty and staff offices, laboratories, and meeting areas for sharing research and educational information with the agricultural community. The farm features 130 acres of irrigated cropland, 18,500 square feet of greenhouses and high tunnels, and a state-of-the-art 4000 square feet greenhouse complex. Additionally, there are 57 research and instruction ponds stocked with various fish species, an on-site fish hatchery, and animal production facilities.
