Hyatt House Richmond / Short Pump

"Based on it's location in Short Pump, this had been my preferred hotel when I come to Richmond for business. However, it's been 3 separate occasions now that I've had bad experiences with bugs in my room (ladybugs twice and then ants). On the last occasion, I recorded a video of the ants that ruined $60 worth of food that I had ordered. I presented it to hotel management and they sent maintenance to spray the area in my room and clean the ants. They also promised to reimburse me for the lost food and issue points to compensate me for my inconvenience. Neither ever happened. So I am now looking for a new location for my business trips to Richmond. Wish I could post the video but nonetheless I'm sharing my experience with this hotel."

"As a Hyatt member, I have stayed at plenty in my time. I will start with my standard is higher then most. However, the room I stayed in was very poorly cleaned. The edges of the room especially near the bed haven't ever been vacuumed or at least in year or so. Carpet had stains on it, shower had dirty floor grout and mildew on the bottom of the shower door. There were black long hairs in the bed and shower. I am not sure how this specific Hyatt maintains the star rating if this is the quality of the cleaning of all the rooms. The service is clearly flipping and not paying attention or doing a complete top to bottom. Will be the last time I stay a this Hyatt. I will probably stay at a Marriott when in Richmond."

"This Hyatt house is perfectly located. The amount of shopping and restaurants in the immediate area is amazing. My interactions with the staff were all very pleasant. The entire facility was clean. There is an outdoor rooftop patio, which is really nicely set up. The room was perfect. It was spacious, and it was clean. Larger than expected kitchen area, which worked out very well for me. There is a bar in the hotel lobby, which is a nice option for a quick nightcap. The breakfast had many hot and cold food and drink options. Overall, it was a really good experience."

"My wife and I stayed in one of the Whirlpool suites for our first night away from the kids in five years. The room was superb and all of the staff were super helpful. We really enjoyed the bar, and the bartender was great. We had one issue, and I think it was a pretty major problem that was never properly addressed. We went to check-in to our room a little after 4pm, and it was not ready. We had to wait around for about 30-40 minutes in the lobby waiting for them to finish cleaning it. It doesn't sound like a major issue, but we had to adjust our dinner reservations because of it."
