"My child has been going here for 3 years! We love our team and all the time they put in to help him! He was not speaking or making any kind of sounds. He now is repeating words, making better eye contact, starting to follow simple directions! We are very grateful for ABS kids❤️"
"DO NOT work here. This company is not accommodating to employees needs whatsoever. I recently got into a really awful car accident which ended up with my car being totaled. Due to my accident i was unable to complete the training modules assigned that day. I texted my supervisor WHILE I WAS STILL IN THE SMOKING CAR to let her know that i could not complete the modules as I just had an accident. I was extremely communicative about my situation. I thought for a company who’s job is to provide help to clients they would at least be a little more thoughtful when it came to the employees, especially after a near death experience. However i was sorely mistaken and extremely disappointed. They held a meeting with me the next day and terminated me. I was extremely excited to work here because my younger brother who’s autistic did therapy at abs and i always wanted to become a BT one day. This was an extremely disappointing experience and the lack of care for their employees well-being was upsetting to say the least."
"Here is my experience with ABS kids. The first three years were AMAZING. I give all (but two) staff members that have worked with our son five stars. Absolutely. They have changed our lives, taught me how to be a better and more understanding mom for my son with autism, and helped my son grow LEAPS and bounds over the years. They are nothing but miracle workers. However, recently management has become increasingly difficult and terrible to work with. They suddenly changed our son's case worker of THREE YEARS very suddenly, who knew our son and our unique situation intimately. And we as parents had no say in the matter. And now, only 6 months later, they are doing it again. Only we had exactly ONE days notice, and I had no time to even try to talk to management. Neither the family or staff were given a reason, and even though our amazing caseworker tried to fight for us, they didn't care and dug their heels in. My son has recently gone through a LOT of change, including a move. And adding another change to his life is not in his best interest. Regional managers of a company solely working with children with autism should absolutely know that it's in these kid's best interest to maintain stability in their life; and they should be doing everything in their power to decrease arbitrary change. I'm extremely frustrated with how ABS Kids is currently treating staff AND families and making absolutely detrimental decisions for these children without a care in the world. Because the more I talk to staff and other families, the more I learn that it is not just me, but everyone being treated this way lately. I'll happily change my rating back to 5 stars once management starts treating their employees and families they serve like PEOPLE again. I am beyond disappointed. EDIT to say: I'm changing my rating from 1 up to 3 stars because the staff again has been fabulous. I still rate the management making decisions that are hurting families and staff 1 star. They keep making rules that make no sense that they didn't used to have. Like not letting us have one therapist MWF and another TR. Makes NO sense. They just have a list of strict rules and it's frustrating for everyone. However, I will say, that after this frustrating fiasco. And then another frustrating fiasco with a couple staff that were not as great. I talked to a supervisor about my concerns, and he immediately got on the case and we have staff again that are amazing and doing amazing things for my son. Again, the actual RBTs and BCBAs that work with my son are miracle workers. The upper management is just very frustrating. And I think the main problem is that the company has gotten too big. And another problem is that they don't seem to be treating their clients, employees, and the families they serve like people, like it used to be. Super sad. But it is still probably the best option around for ABA therapy."
"We started with ABS 2 years ago and for the first year we had almost no problems. We were delighted with our therapists, the standard of care received and in fact felt very lucky to have such a smooth experience. Then about 8 months ago everything changed. Our beloved BCBA left the company due to health reasons. Our son was very attached to her and we were promised they would find someone equally as good (impossible) and make the transition as smooth as possible. We did get a great replacement and that lasted about 4 months. Then she was removed (for no discernible reason) and replaced with someone else. We were given no warning and basically just had to accept the change. After this BCBA change (we were on our 4th BCBA at this point) we had multiple therapist changes. When we tried to fight back to keep therapists that we liked and worked well with we were told no. We were pressured into taking on a brand new therapist with the promise that it would be a good fit (and more permanent) only to have him pulled from our case 2 months later. Again we pushed back, our BCBA advocated for us and again we were denied. I did complain to multiple people with ABS and was basically just told ‘I’m sorry you experienced that’. But nothing was done. Nobody contacted us to try and make it right. They were unwilling to bend or work with us at all. At this point we made the decision to leave ABS. I had heard rumors by this point of they poor way in which they treat their staff, but when they treat their clients and families in the same disregarding manner I refused to give them another dime of our money. Anyone who has an Autistic child understands how important stability is in their lives. A company that WORKS with Autistic children should understand this importance. To be so deliberately callous in moving therapists and expecting families to just jump on board with no warning or explanation is harmful. They are causing more undue stress and pain than they are doing good. I highly recommend using a different ABA provider. One who is more interested in helping families than in making money off them."
