The statue is currently being prepared for relocation to its permanent location outside of the Menger Hotel Bar, in front of Rivercenter Mall. The statue depicts Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, who along with Army Colonel Leonard Wood, formed the First U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment in 1898, known as the "Rough Riders." The regiment trained in San Antonio at the Menger Hotel Bar before going to war. Roosevelt served as President from 1901 to 1909 and had a special connection to San Antonio, stating that no city had a greater claim on him than San Antonio. The bronze statue was donated by Jack Guenther and is part of the Alamo Sculpture Trail. Visitors can support the preservation of the Alamo's beauty and history by making donations.
Brackenridge Park Golf Course
