This 12,000-acre wilderness area protects the city's drinking water and offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors. With over 40 miles of trails, visitors can hike, mountain bike, or trail run through gently rolling grasslands and rugged canyons. The park also features a playscape, Discovery Trail, and camping facilities for those looking to connect with nature. Explore the Joe Johnston Route to the historic Zizelmann House, which dates back to the 1880s, and discover 110-million-year-old dinosaur tracks along the way. For stunning views, hike the Far Reaches Trail to the Chula Vista and Sotol overlooks. The park is home to the only known dinosaur footprints on public land in Bexar County, believed to be left by Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon dinosaurs millions of years ago.
