Bandera General Store
β ClosedBandera General Store, located at 306 Main Street in Bandera, Texas, is a historic institution with a rich past. The building, constructed in 1907, retains its original wood floors and tin tile ceiling. Over the years, it has served as a saddle shop, feed store, appliance store, and even a movie theater. The basement now houses "Arkey's Silver Dollar Saloon," one of the oldest honky-tonks in Texas. Visitors to the Bandera General Store can step back in time at the antique 1950's ice cream fountain, one of only 11 left in Texas. Offering a variety of treats made with Blue Bell Ice Cream, the fountain is a unique feature of the store. Additionally, the store boasts the only bookstore in town, with a selection of modern fiction, biographies, and Texas/Bandera history books.
