Dating back to 1936, this school building was originally constructed by the Hardy Brothers of Texarkana as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) era. Over the years, the school provided a safe and welcoming environment for students and teachers until it fell into disrepair in the 1990s. Thanks to the efforts of former students and supporters, the Atlanta-Miller Grade School has been saved from destruction. The nonprofit organization, Atlanta Grade School Friends, was established in 2003 to oversee the restoration and maintenance of the building. With the help of volunteers and financial contributions, the school has been stabilized and is now undergoing a complete renovation.

The American Legion- Charles Johnson House is a historic institution located at 404 Atlanta Street in Austin, Texas. Situated across from Ladybird Lake, the beautiful grounds of the Charles Johnson House feature 800-year-old trees, indoor and outdoor event options, and a flexible rental schedule. Originally built by Charles Johnson, a skilled stone mason who strongly opposed slavery, the 2-story house overlooks the Colorado River and boasts 18-inch thick stone walls. The house was constructed with the help of other Swedish members of the Johnson family and served as a gathering place for various activities.
