Robber Baron Cave
β OpenRobber Baron Cave, located at 155 Camellia Way in San Antonio, Texas, is a park and tourist attraction known for its extensive maze cave with interconnected passages. Managed by Preserve Manager Joe Mitchell and Assistant Manager Mike Harris, the cave is a significant site with over 500 caves in Bexar County, Texas. With 5340 feet of mapped passages, the cave features a sinkhole entrance, a complex maze of passages, and unique underground species. The cave, believed to have origins related to the Edwards Aquifer, is home to blind invertebrate species found nowhere else on Earth. Open to the public, the cave has a rich history and was once a popular tourist attraction from 1923 to 1933. Now protected by TCMA, the cave is maintained as a karst resource to preserve its biology, geology, and history. The Robber Baron Open House, held once every 18 months, offers a rare opportunity for visitors to explore this unique underground environment. Donations to TCMA can help support the preservation of Robber Baron Cave Preserve.
