Reece Museum
The Reece Museum, located at 363 Stout Drive in Johnson City, Tennessee, is a renowned museum and tourist attraction that has been showcasing the stories of Appalachia for over 50 years. The museum's origins date back to the late 1920s when it was established as a class project by history professor Maxine Mathews. Over the years, the museum has grown significantly, thanks in part to a generous donation from Louise Goff Reece, wife of Congressman Brazilla Carroll Reece. Today, the Reece Museum continues to honor the memory of Congressman Reece by serving as a "storehouse of knowledge" for the university's students and the state's citizens.
