Gather Place Museum
Welcome to Gather Place Museum, a unique and vibrant cultural destination located at 188 South Canal Street, Yardley, Pennsylvania. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we are proud to be a cornerstone of cultural preservation and education in Bucks County. Nestled within the historic 1877-built African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church, our museum is a testament to the rich heritage of Yardley Borough's Historic District. Owned and operated by an African American woman, Gather Place Museum is dedicated to unveiling the often-overlooked narratives of Yardley Borough, Bucks County, and the Quaker founders of Pennsylvania, with a special focus on African American and Women's history. Since our opening on September 10, 2022, we have transformed into a living history museum, offering a diverse array of exhibits, documents, photographs, documentaries, and interactive history lessons.
Makefield Friends Meeting
Welcome to Makefield Friends Meeting, a welcoming and historic place of worship located at 877 Dolington Road, Newtown, Pennsylvania. As a part of the Religious Society of Friends, commonly known as Quakers, we gather for worship every Sunday at 10 a.m., followed by Spiritual Enrichment at 11 a.m. This enriching experience, akin to a Sunday School for all ages, invites everyone to deepen their spiritual understanding and connection. Makefield Friends Meeting holds a special place in the Newtown, Yardley, and Washington Crossing communities as the original Quaker meeting in the area. We are proud members of the Bucks Quarterly Meeting and the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, continuing a long-standing tradition of faith and fellowship.
