"I had a really bad experience with this apartment complex. This happened 2 years ago. I finally got the time to sit down and write my story. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else again. When I moved in in September, I signed a 3-month lease. Before my lease was up, I went to the office and talked to the lady in charge. I asked her if I could live in that apartment for a bit longer, and if I had to sign another lease. I told her I didn’t know how much longer I had to live there, she told me it was not a problem. She said I could go month-to-month and whenever I decided to move out, I didn’t have to give them a 60-day notice, a 30-day notice was good enough. She said that in early November. In late November, I wrote her a notice saying that I decided to move out on January 5th, and that was my 30-day notice. I thought I did everything correctly and appropriately. But, what I did wrong was that I didn’t get what she said in writing because I trusted her so much. I should have sent her an email, so that I could have the evidence. In late December, I found another place, I called her office and politely asked her if I could move out before new year, and if I could move out without paying for those five days (On my 30-day notice I said I would move out on 1/5). Again, I should have sent her an email. She told me I definitely could move out, and I didn’t have to pay for those five days if I turned in the keys before Jan 1st. I was so happy; I was really appreciative. I even bought her a gift. I was so grateful for her help. When I turned in my keys, she told me I would get my deposit back soon. I waited for my deposit to come to my mail, but it never did. I waited and waited, nothing happened. I really needed the money because my job was not good at that time, I barely had enough money to live. I called her office, I wanted to ask her what happened, but someone else answered the phone. I asked the person to tell her to call me back, but she never called me. A few days later, I called again. She still didn’t answer. I left her another message but still, she didn’t call me. I guess because she didn’t know what to say. She knew she had made a mistake. A few days later, instead of getting my deposit check, I got a bill from their company. It said I owed them about seven hundred dollars. I was so confused. I couldn’t figure out why I owed money. Since I couldn’t get in touch with that lady, I drove to her office. I was really angry because she completely ignored me. But I wanted to be a decent human being, I didn’t want to yell at her or anything. When I entered, she didn’t seem surprised. It seemed like she was ready for me to go to her. I remained calm and I was really polite to her. I showed her the bill and asked her why. She shrugged her shoulders and told me she thought they wouldn’t charge me, but she was wrong. I was shocked by the answer she gave me. Apparently, I should have given them a 60-day notice, the reason I didn’t do it was because she told me I didn’t have to. I had to pay for her mistake. I contacted the company and told them exactly what happened, but no one listened to me. They didn’t stand behind their employee’s word nor did they have the decency to apologize. They just sent me the bill and basically said pay this, or they would send to bill to collection. Any professional company would have handled this situation differently, but not them. I had to work extra hours in order to pay the bill. Life was already hard enough because of COVID, they had to make it even harder. After this terrible experience, I learned that when we ask for something, we should always have it in writing because people don’t keep their words, nor do they want to be responsible for what they did. I just want to share my experience with everyone, and I hope no one gets tricked like I did. Be really careful guys. Not everyone is nice."
"Do not live on the Hwy 74 side. You won't get any sleep. Plus I have a great view of the dumpster. On the upside I found a perfectly good Kirby vacuum and two usable lamps lol"
"I don't even know where to start. This apartment complex is the worst one I've ever lived in. I don't know what makes them think they can charge people that much money and provide them such bad apartments. All the rooms are so small and dirty, you can hear all your neighbors, you do not have your own washer and dryer even though you pay thousands of dollars. But the good thing is, if you live by yourself and you feel lonely, you can find so many cockroach friends, they are everywhere in your room. Have fun guys!"
"Didn’t live here, but I was considering it, after a tour I definitely decided against it. I get that housing is up, but they are trying to ROB you at Woodbrook. 1400ish including amenities for a ONE BEDROOM, which isn’t unreasonable if the apartment is nice. These are NOT, the tour guide, who was a very nice guy I might add, didn’t even offer a tour until I asked. I understood why once I saw the unit, the wall around the outlets were chipped, the wall paint was so thick it looked like it had been painted over about 800 times. One of the stove tops in the show unit was literally GONE. I mean why would I want to fork over nearly 1500 a month for a $700 apartment. If they had security, or cameras, or a gate, or even updated units I would understand the astonishing price point. Instead, Woodbrook will inevitably lose out to the competitors in the area who offer better apartments at the same rate. “Staying competitive” only counts if you’re offering a competitive apartment/community, they are not. Go see for yourself, I am certainly not someone to force others to agree with me, but I certainly won’t be applying to Woodbrook after what I saw just on a tour."
"I lived in this apartment complex for just over a year while I was finishing school. This was the first apartment I had moved into own my own after living in a house with my parents. I chose to live in the studio apartment as I was looking for the cheapest place I could afford to live in while I was a student. The studio is very small at 336 sq ft. but for what it lacks in space it makes up for in built in accommodations. The living/sleeping area has an entertainment center which includes four large drawers for storage, a coat closet, extra shelving, and a murphy (pull down) bed. The bathroom has a large bathtub most people would be able to stretch out in. The kitchen has ample cabinet space for storage. The only downside for me here was that this apartment does not have a full-size refrigerator. This can be inconvenient for those who like to cook at home most of the time and need a place to store all that is needed for prep and the cooked food. The mini fridge has a very small freezer at the top, however its not big enough for ample food storage. Also, it did not freeze efficiently and food would often be half thawed. This was the biggest downside for me. As for noise, I could not hear much noise from my neighbors, then again, I did live on the third floor. Other than the fridge I really think Woodbrook is a great place to live, either for those just starting out or those families with children. It’s a nice, safe neighborhood on the outskirts of Monroe, near shopping centers, the community college, and a short drive to Charlotte."
