The first five miles of the trail are mostly flat, providing a smooth ride for mountain bikers throughout most of the year, or a scenic cross-country skiing path during winter months. As you journey along, you'll pass the turnoff to Remsen Falls before reaching a bridge where the biking path ends and the hiking trail begins. Here, you can securely stow your biking or skiing gear before continuing on foot or snowshoe for the final 2.5-mile ascent to the summit. The gradual climb rewards you with stunning views of the Western Adirondacks, and the fire tower offers an even more spectacular vantage point, although access to the cab is currently restricted.
