Villa Lewaro, located at 67 North Broadway in Irvington, New York, is a historic institution that serves as a tourist attraction and a reminder of the remarkable life of Madam C.J. Walker, America's first self-made female millionaire. The Villa, designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1976, was the intellectual gathering place for notable leaders of the Harlem Renaissance. Doley, Jr. and Mrs. Doley owned and lived at Villa Lewaro from 1993 to 2018, protecting it in perpetuity through a preservation and conservation easement donated to the National Trust. In 2018, the property was purchased by the New Voices Foundation, which offers women of color entrepreneurs access, capital, and expertise to scale their businesses.
