"By far the least scrupulous landlord I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. Merrick promised the world to get me to sign and once i moved in, I couldn't get him to return my calls. Curious as I first met him WHILE he was doing work to an apartment. This was an anomolous occurrence as I saw the reality of things once I moved in. The building is not kept after and contains a multitude of hazards. Broken front door to the building, smoking in the stairwell, extremely noisy neighbors. My understanding from the local RE scene is that he is neither well regarded nor trusted. Word to the wise, look elsewhere for housing. If you MUST consider him, do not roll with his antics. He will demand a bank check for deposit and a modified contract that waives all tenant rights. Negotiate. Platzners are desperate for unwise tenants and you lose all leverage once you sign."

"Simply bad! Been a tenant for close to 7 years. Rent is directly ACH’ed out of my account so can’t say I’ve been a bad tenant since they get there monthly rent payment on their own schedule. 2 years ago, they had to do a “repair” in my apartment in order to stabilize the structure of the stairs and in a studio apartment had major construction for over a month: rude contractors who share office space with them (can u expect better? no) now, 7 months later the “new” tenants upstairs who have a child, absolutely no carpet, still being woken up at 1am.... 3am..... and noise is non-stop after 6:30-7am and they just don’t care, nor do their job, sad building has “new management” with Platzner with acting agent so now there are two management companies who can’t fix one problem. Last snow storm they called my husbands company 3 times to remove his company’s truck meanwhile tons of cars are parked in the lot and unresolved problems including one out of 3 washing machines have been out of service for over 4 months, I guess you get what you pay for to live in Pelham NY.
