Spring is an especially vibrant time at the sanctuary, with the arrival of migrating owls such as Long-eared, Northern Saw-whet, and possibly Boreal Owls taking refuge in the pine plantations. As April progresses, visitors can spot sparrows, juncos, kinglets, and creepers along Nine Mile Point Road. The sanctuary's diverse habitats also offer sightings of house wrens, winter wrens, thrushes, warblers, vireos, and flycatchers.
